    My first grow

Wassup pplz!!! Im new to this site and and new to internet forums in general. But more importantly im here for advice and maturity in cultivation.

Iv been growing my plants for 52 days now (so around 2 months), they'v been growing in rockwool from birth and i stated off given them blue spectrum lighting of 125w on a 18hr on 6hr off cycle, then gradually dropped an hour of daylight evry two days till i recently reached the 12hr cycle. I now use the red spectrum lights agen at 125w. Iv also used the necessary foods and pH at the recommended rate (... i think!).

At there present state they look aiiite!! but as its my first grow, i have a few concerns and paranoia as to how it is growing.

First the leaves started getting these strange gold spots, which i noticed burning thru the skin; also the colour of the leaves arent a dark green like those on varius pictures iv seen??? is something wrong??

Secondly the plants arent as bushy as i thought they mite b and compared to others iv seen. Plus the the first set of leaves that developed turned yelllow, so cruelly but in all the kindness of my heart, i cutt em off. was that wrong???

And thirdly, i just wanna know if they are healthy. Iv dun some research prior and during the growth process and its seems to ave dun sum good but id like sum advice from experienced growers and those of you in a similar situation to my own.

Pleas reply me and thank you all for your time. PEACE!!!

It's normal for lower leaves to become yellow and die as the plant grows. This is because the light doesn't penetrate very deeply to keep those leaves producing. For practicality, you only have to worry about the top half of the plant. If it is green and growing, then your plant is probably alright. Lack of light strength can also account for your plants' lack of bushiness. Your plants are just not getting enough light to support alot of vegetative growth. What energy it has is put towards growing taller and finishing its life cycle. Side branching and lower foliage is neglected in favour of new growth skyward.

Now, about your spotty leaves. Its hard to diagnose a problem over the internet even with pics, but I can give you a few things to check. You say your leaves are not as dark as other peoples'. Alot of the color is strain related but it could mean that they are not getting enough N. This indicates to me that they are nutrient deficient which could be caused by PH lockout. Lockout of nutes could also account for your brown spots. Alot of times this is rightly diagnosed as Nutrient deficiency but is treated by adding more nutrients, when in fact it doesn't matter if you add more nutes they are locked out and can't be used by the plant anyways. The remedy is to adjust your PH to within the normal range, whatever your method of growing. You say rockwool so I assume you are doing hydro so the PH for that is 5.5-5.8, I believe. Better to double check that as I do soil only and soil can be a bit higher.

Since you don't give many details about your setup, I can only speculate but that should give you some idea of where to start looking for an answer. If your PH, temp, nutrients levels are all good, then I would look for pests. Hope this helps.

By the way, those plants look pretty healthy to me, you are not doing too badly. I would increase your light to at least a 250W or even 400 if you can handle it. Your plants will love it.

Thankls for the reply man! it actually helps....now that you mention it, iv been using a pH of 6 but hav found thaT over time it increases???? Now im using a system that flood and drains every three hours (what can i say...im a lazy gardener! ) but logically i presume its bcoz it recycles the liquid that already in the pods. Is this a problem? do you think i should use a lower pH to compensate for this? I appreciate the advice. SAFE!!!!!

no, i would ph at 5.5 and let it go to 6 then repeat. also what strain and nutes are u using at 2 months those should be atleast 2 feet. either way they will tripple in size. they look good though... maybe there just under nutes, the lighter your leaves the less nutes your giving them, as u increase your nutes they should become more of a solid green, but def make sure u done oveer fert cause it will hurt them.

this could be just an overall ph problem. i would fix that first then make your next move.

Ok cool...but when i tried the pH at 5.5 they got abit sleepy! but that was before i put them on 12/12; ever since i kept them on pH 6 and then realised the increase only a couple days ago. but iv acknowledged so il try it in the coming week. The strain is master kush, but im not 100% seen as i got dem from a dodgy looking guy at a market stand. I did sum research and apparently there spose to be short and bushy??? obviously if u guys know any better letme kno. The nutes im using are two part nitrogen based solutions from holland; i cant even make out the dosage i shud use but basically i pour equal amounts in (about a cap full) and use a meter to get the reading. From the advice iv been given i keep it 14cf. One more thing can ne1 give me an idea of what yield im looking at? Thanks agen

Your Lights are not right, you want lights high in the BLUE spectrum for Vegitation and Red for Flowering, you will get a crappy yeald, like a joint or 2 from thoes if you dont use a High Pressure Sodium light to flower with, and a light high in the blue spec. for growth, you have allready thrown the plants off and hinderd there growth by not keeping the light on 24/7 allways keep the lights on 24 hours a day when you are veging they dont need dark at all beause they have everything they need to survive constantly, they dont need to rest. they are very very very small for the age of the Plants, 52 days damn.. my plants are only alittle over 1 month old 22 days younger than yours, compare my pics i have attatched.

i would disagree, plants do actually do things when the lights are off. youu have foilar feed when there off. Not saying it wouldnt work, but i would give them atleast 3 hrs of light off. What kind of lights are you using? specific...

Fair enuff Bongo! not sayin the size of my plants dont worry me but i think with my circumstances my lights are good enuff for the moment. When i can, il get the rolls royce of lights! but now u mention it, can i go bak to veging growth now? before i had them on 18/6. The lights are two dirt cheap energy saving envirolites @ 125w. The red spec emitts 2700k and blue 6400k (as quoted on box).
