t12 flouro ballast..
so ive decided to put 2 4foot t12 light system into my new closet. i decided to use two that were existing fixtures in the apartment.. thers twice as many as needed in this one spot so it fine to borrow anyway as i was taking the panel off to disconnect to wiring and un screw it from the wall i saw this black goop, id say was like tar that had dripped onto and pooled on the front plate.. i scraped it off and put it backtogether.. is this normal? dangerous evan? have the ballasts outlived thier lives? any insight appreciated.

t12 flouro ballast..
deff not normal, i'd suggest a couple of new fixtures; they run about 10-12$ at any hardware store.
as for bulbs, GE daylight is the best for veg imho...
love, kp

The black goo you speak of is tar. Its from the inside of the ballast. I suggest getting a new ballast for your T12's, as it may cause problems. * They fill the ballast with it for a reason
