XBOX 360 has the hardware/graphics, interface is great, xboxlive being the best console online network, halo 3, gears of war. I would of liked to have built in wi-fi for internet excess though, you have to buy a separate item.

Xbox live is also only $50 a month which comes out to about $4.16 a month, if you cannot afford that but could afford a PS3, than theres something wrong. Also the service does not suck, im sorry please be more specific why it does. PS3's internet service may be free, but its nothing to talk about.

Let me start off by saying I am more knowlegable in this field (and electronics in general) than I would like to admit. I am not a fanboy for any of the systems, but I really hate Sony in general. They repeatedly screw the consumer, and yet you still suck their dick and pay them for it. This doesn't affect my opinion of the PS3, I'm just saying that I hate Sony.
I mean really, the only cool part about the ps3 is that they support linux and make it easy to install. Other than that, it's big and expensive, I really don't give a shit about graphics, xbox/ps2/gamecube graphics suit my needs (for now) just fine.
I will grade each console on Hardware and Games
Hardware
Processors:
XBOX 360 - 3 core PowerPC @ 3.2GHz
PS3 - 9 [IIRC] core cell processor @ 3.2GHz
Wii - Single core PowerPC @ 729MHz
(for reference)
XBOX - Single core Celeron Mobile (x86) @ 733MHz
Gamecube - Single core PowerPC @ 455MHz
The PS3 has the best processor hands down. The only one that could be better is the XBOX, because it is x86 (like any standard windows or "Intel Mac" computer) it is easier for homebrew developers to work with and easier to get Linux on
Ram:
XBOX 360 - 512MB @ 700MHz
PS3 - (I don't remember, it's likely equivelant to that of the XBOX 360)
Wii - 88MB @ (unkown)
(for reference)
XBOX - 64MB @ 200MHz
Gamecube - 24MB @ 324MHz
The little amount of RAM in the Wii worries me, but the gamecube had way less it it did just fine
Graphics:
XBOX 360 - 500MHz core, 512MB @ 700MHz memory
PS3 - (unknown) core, 256MB @ 700MHz memory
Wii - 243MHz core ATi
(for reference)
XBOX - 233MHz core nVidia
Gamecube - 162MHz core ATi
The XBOX 360 has more VRAM, though really it is a tie between it and the PS3
Network:
XBOX 360 - 10/100base-T ethernet (wireless adapter: $50)
PS3 - 10/100base-T ethernet (wireless in premium version only)
Wii - 802.11g WiFi and 10/100base-T ethernet (no wireless)
(for reference)
XBOX - 10/100base-T ethernet (no wireless)
Gamecube - [N/A]
Wii owns in network compatibility, it supports every type of WiFi encryption, it really has the best connectivity of all the consoles
Controllers:
XBOX 360 - Proprietary RF (4 max)
PS3 - [IIRC] Proprietary Bluetooth (7 max)
Wii - True Bluetooth
(for reference)
XBOX - [N/A]
Gamecube - Proprietary RF, not stock, "Wavebird"
7 max is nice, but do you really want to have 1/7th of a screen to play on? True Bluetooth means potential compatibility with other Bluetooth devices, and third party controllers
Games
XBOX 360 - A small amount of backwards compatibility with XBOX games, Halo 2 is great, Burnout: Revenge is great, Gears of War looks pretty good, Halo 3 is sure to be good
PS3 - Pretty good backwards compatibility, wireless Guitar Hero will be great (M$ won't make a wireless guitar hero guitar for xbox :/), FF series and Katamari Damacy series are the only games that set it apart from anything else...
Wii - COMPELTE backwards compatibility with gamecube, plus tons of other games from NES to N64 are available for download
Wii wins. Sure, the games are a bit childish, but goddamn they are by far the most fun. I've never met anyone who doesn't enjoy the occasional Mario Party, or Monkey Balls. The only reason I would play a PS2 is for Guitar Hero, Katamari Damacy, and FF, but those games are enough to make me own one. XBOX was the best FPS console, and I think XBOX 360 will continue that legacy. GRAW is okay if you are an FPS looser with a handle like "ph33rm31k177u", but I hate those kind of people who listen to SOAD and are generally complete loosers who you would never want to hang out with. Halo and Halo 2 are, as far as I'm concerned, the best FPS's ever made. The controls are simple and beautiful, it takes 5 minutes to learn and a lifetime to master (hopefully you aren't one of those level 50's on XBL who has spent their liftime mastering it :/)
Personally, I'd go buy a used XBOX1, mod it and run XBMC and play live (especially Halo 2), and buy a Wii, it's just an all around fun console. That's what I liked about the gamecube, none of this 4 hours to learn bullshit, you pick up a game and have fun, it's not about winning or losing. As for PS3/PS2, theres nothing really special about either of them, other than Katamari Damacy/Guitar Hero/FF.
Well now that I've scared everyone with my ~110 line post, lemme know what ya'll think, and for any sony fanboys, what do you see in them? I despise sony and their products are consistently lackluster, just run of the mill average.
