Which word
When I was teaching, the word "separate" often gave kids a lot of spelling trouble. Which is why the little mnemonic saying "There's 'a rat' in separate" came in handy.
I don't know the single most commonly misspelled word. But I found this about the most common 100 words:

Which word
in a recent survery the most commonly miss spelled word is regardless, it is commonly miss spelled as irregardless, which is not a word.
This is using a ratio of how often words are used, and then multiplying the factors so that is as if they were said the same number of times.
