super bloom by green light (super phosphate) and molasses are my flowering weapons... and the buds on my last grow were so big, i cant even upload the photo's (too many pixels) lol...

i use one and a half tablespoons of molasses per gallon of water IN ADDITION to normal ferts... the sugar just helps the plant metabolize the nutrients better, and providing extra carbs... plain ol' sugar works too

I don't mean to hijack your thread MrWhippy. Hopefully these are quick questions and are somewhat relevant.

I'm growing for the first time and I'm probably going to try out this sugar/molasses idea. Day 17 of flower right now and we're seeing lots of pistils on new growth. I have a couple of questions though.

First, should I even bother with this on my first grow? If it's probably not going to make a noticeable difference until I'm more experienced then you can ignore the rest of the questions.

Should I wait until actual buds start to grow before adding any sugar to their water?

I'm giving them straight water every 3rd watering. Should I add any sugar to that or only when they're getting ferts as well?

KP: you said that plain old sugar works as well. Would cane sugar or brown sugar be any better? I only ask because I know that refined white sugar is not the healthiest sugar for humans.

I have white sugar and brown sugar on hand, but if molasses is better than either one I will pick up some of that instead.

molasses is not only good for the plant, but for the beneficials in the soil.
So I'd use it over other forms of sugar.
I occasionally give molasses even in veg for this reason, plus the bonus that ALL plants like carbon. I give TopMax a couple times during veg, even!
The combination of molasses (carbon) plus Sweet and /or TopMax (carbon synthesizers) is great and I recommend it highly. I use all 3.

that is EXACTLY what i use:jointsmile: works great about 3 bucks for the greenlight....enough for several grows...and 2 bucks for the mollases..again one bottle will last several grows:jointsmile:

hey all ,
crispis almost outta the "sweet" all the dist. were giving away .
i grow in hydro w/ w/f . < stinky or k/p > what ratio do you suggest i use as far as tsp. molasses per. gal. of water ? crispis so tight he squeaks . lol

Thanks for the advice and the explanation stinky. I'll be picking up some molasses before the girls' next feeding and looking into Sweet and TopMax.

I'm really sloppy with my molasses mixing... in dirt... you know, hard to screw up!!! The hard part is getting it out of the jar, it's so cold in my house I have to leave it on top of the ballast to stay fluid... I use about a tablespoon per 4L whenever I remember to , maybe once a week? Uh... not too helpful, sorry!

If I had to choose only one supplement though it would be the topmax. That stuff is pretty amazing all on its own.

Again, there seems to be a little confusion: Sweet is not a bottle of sugar!!! It has carb synth agents in it! That's why a little goes a long way if you supplement with another source of sugar!

I have been using a product called "Blossom Set" It does work and it works good. The active chemicals are called Cytokinin and Kinetin they are said to be organic. I don't know who said it. Liquid Karma also has Cyrokinin in it. Blossom set works better for me because I spray it right on the bud. You can also spray Liquid Karma, the color of it might stain the buds.

the product you are asking about is called gravity by humboldt hydro I have never used it but every one says they become rock hard according to the guy at the hydro store.

There is a stuff called rock, mate of my sells it in his shop.
and yes it makes you buds hard.
Dunno what's in it, but I can ask.
There is another stuff called Sweet Leaf, potassium based stuff adds wieght and flavour.
