I live in Maine and recently went to Canada.

Going OUT of the US is easy, because you are talking to a Canadian officer. They are very polite, nice, and on the boarder with Maine it is all farm land so the chances of them liking the reefer is pretty high. He asked us if we had anything illegal, we said no, he said okay!

Coming back into VT from Canada was difficult. The US officer gave us a whole soap box speech about marijuana and alcohol. He then told us that if we had alcohol we could either give it to him, at which point he would dump it out, or we could let him find it and he would call the state police. He searched our entire car, found nothing, and let us on our way.

Just a little personal experience. Throw it somewhere under the hood. If you don't know cars well enough to pick a great spot, the air box is a good one. It's part of the air flow path to the engine... where the air filter is. Put it on the cold side of the air filter so it won't get sucked into the engine, getting burnt up and causing the people tailgating you to get stoned.
