    Clones Acting Peculiarly?

    .

Cloned for the first time 4 days ago. Did it by the book, everything was sterilized, I even considered boiling my hands for a moment but decided that may be overkill. Used roothormone, cut away unneccessary leaves and dipped those nodes in roothormone, chopped the ends of the remaining leaves, recut the end in water in dark bowl, rockwool, etc etc etc.

After 4 days they're still green and have hardly wilted. I thought the leaves were supposed to begin to pale as the plant began to 'eat' them, I also thought they would wilt, but thats hardly happened either.

    What are they up to?

ROOT HORMONE HAS A TENDICEY TO KEEP THE CUTTING ALIVE FOR A LONG TIME.

THEY LOOK GREAT,,, BUT ITS ONLY FALSE HOPE.

I QUIT USING OLIVIA'S FOR THAT REASON.

NOW, MY BABIES ROOT IN 10 DAYS,, WITH NO HORMONE,, JUST 1/4 STRENGH NUTES IN THE WATER.

    GOOD LUCK

Guess it depends on what you use. I used Olivia's gel on 12 Sativa-ish clones in a 30-site EZ-Cloner (that were taken 9 days into flowering, to add another problem to the mix), and all 12 rooted no prob in about ten days. Maybe I've just had good luck with Olivia, but she seems to like my cloner.

i use a diy bubble cloner with just properly ph'd r/o water. the cuts never wilt and i get about 99% success(once in a while i'll loose 1) the fastest i got roots was 3 days but it is usually more like 7-10 days. the cloner costed me about $8 to make compared to the $300 an ezcloner would cost you. don't get me wrong, i'de love one but i just can't justify the expense when the cheap homemade one works so well for me. i never use any kind of rooting hormones!

Hey Justaseed I have a 15 sight bubble cloner and I want to fire it up and maybe you can help answer a few things so I have a little less trial and error. I have herd that folks don't always use a dome with them, also do you use Rock W cubes? I have the 1 inch ones with clay pellets. I also have a heating pad because I have herd of people keeping their clones in an 80d water. What is your technique and what nutes do you use if not any gels.
Hope you can take some time to answer.

Sorry Faithless didn't mean to high jack your thread in fact I was going to leave some feed back but when I got down to Justaseeds input I got distracted.
On your clones, they will not always wilt or go threw the yellowing process in my exp. One thing, did the mother you cut them from have any recent feedings with nitrogen? If so they may have allot of stored N in the leaves and it is taking longer to show deficit and may take a little longer to root since the clone can feed off of the stored N rather then send out roots to find nutes.

    .

Hey, no prob BB! I was aware of that so I hadn't nuted for a week, on the other hand I had transplanted them into fresh soil about 8 days previously. But I've been nuting the plants after I cut the clones and they haven't shown any signs of overfert yet, so I think the soil was quite denuted.

Its almost 5 days now, and they still look fresh and new. Can't see any roots coming out of the rock wool yet though.

Well, just keep doing what your doing and in about 4 or 5 days you should see the roots, let us know when they show.
And yes, you don't want to feed your plants anything with high amounts of N before cutting. Some PH'd water with a bit of Super Thrive at least 24 hours before cutting will do you.

i never used a dome with the bubbler. i just cut holes in the plastic top of the container and stuck the cuts in, no rockwool! i would just make sure the mum was watered well an hour or so before the cuts are taken. very very simple. ph about 5.5 or a little lower, water temp 76-78, air temp 79-81, agrosun full spectum flouros about 16-20inches above the cloner. if the lights are too close the cuts try to grow instead of root and end up yellowing out real fast. those are the conditions i have for cloning and i always have excellent results. another thing i have noticed is that smaller cuts with fewer/smaller leaves seem to root alot faster than the bigger ones. good luck.
