This situation makes me tremendously sad, particularly the loss of Image Reaper, who had some very valid points, I thought, and who has never been anything but a courteous, valuable member here. Everyone needs to read a bit more about logotypes and symbols in marketing and advertising before writing a negative response to a logo off as irrational. They're the single most important "faces" companies of all types present to the public in representing their images and attitudes. Whether or not you believe this is true, they do provoke immediate, almost subliminal responses, and that's why Image was lobbying for a more positive one here, I'm sure.
That all being said, obviously, the owners of the site have done--and will continue to do--precisely what they want. I'm quite at peace with that. What is much more grievous to me is the loss of an adult gentleman whose courtesy and contributions made these boards a better place to be for everyone.
Vaya con Dios, Image Reaper, and a very happy holiday season to you, too!

What you say is true in a Logo as you see the stir it caused here... first impressions are very important...

So your obviously more intent on "trying to poach new members" rather than
been open to listening to the feedback from existing members. . . .
And if the owners of this site are "taking it in a new direction",, they obviously
don't care how many more members they loose in the process!!!
Were not trying to tell ya how to run the house,, people are merely
posting Feedback albeit negative. . . .
Have a good one!

You work in advertising/creative, too, right Skink? That's what I did for nearly 20 years in corporate America before going back to school this past fall (I was the writing half of the creative team, partnered with designers). What used to amaze me was how many millions of dollars ad agencies made for logo work alone. I honestly think the company I used to work for quite literally paid for our ad agency's building just with the billiable hours for logo work and focus testing alone. It's a bit of a racquet, really, when you think about it. But the stakes are a lot higher, and the responses much more critical, than most folks realize.

it was directed at him, he made his choice and he decided to leave. it was all on him. i told him there would be more artwork in the pipeline. so the mature gentleman leaves. i listened to the feedback and i understand some dont like the skull. but deal with it. really! it cant be switched over right away and the next piece of artwork wont be for a little bit while. so thats that.
and its been mentioned countless times, we are partnering with a new upcoming website focused on the medical cannabis/co-op side of things

Easy there, NoTech. I have to disagree with you here, and I'll tell you why. I think Sundance has been very tolerant in listening to feedback, actually, and that the owners know full well that nothing's going to make everyone happy. Nothing ever does, in case you don't know that yet. They're treading the very fine line between appealng to future members, who are, no matter whether everyone likes it or not, the younger crowd, and pleasing some of the older ones, too. It's a slippery slope, both from an online marketing perspective and from the perspective of foisting change upon some of the more change-resistant types. It's real important that everyone realizes that, at the end of the day, listening to feedback and actually incorporating that feedback are two very distinct things. And at the end of the day, the owners of the site still retain the power to make the final bottom-line decision. I don't say this to play devil's advocate. I say this because I'm a realist who recognizes someone else's ultimate decision when I see it.
