    LITTLLE FLYS?!?!?!

If they are fungle nats the sticky strips may be a good place to start along with the layer of sand on the soil once the seedlings pop. Make sure you get contracters sand because using regulare beach sand can contain salt from the ocean that is bad for the soil and PH. All of the other suggestions are decent as well.
Also, sand has other benifetts as well.
What kind of soil are you using???

    LITTLLE FLYS?!?!?!

the plant is doin fine, aside from the damage from the gnats. sand is really permeable so theres not really a problem with it. it kills the larva and the gnats cant reach the soil to reproduce. try it if you have a gnat problem
