I'm pretty sure you get 1 point everytime someone votes. I'm not sure though. There are a few threads going in Suggestions & Feedbacks that might answer your question.

This shouldn't be a popularity contest. Who cares how many points you have, I have.......only 40 points, but do I care how many little green dots I get beside my name...not likely.

I think CC is right on the points,,, I think if a mod gives you a approval it is big like 90,,,it's a Hierarchy thing I believe... I posted the Faq in another Rep thread but ,,,I did not read it yet...

Look at your "User CP" I know I gained 50 When CAnnabis Cambell gave me a approval... he has big points so I got big points...
