Isn't this unusual for this to happen? Any idea what causes it? How could it show it's sex on 18 hours of light? Has anyone else ever have this happen?

He's obviously a randy bugger that couldnt keep his hands above the blanket. Btw, I smoked a male a while back, and they are smokable.

Not that unusual really from what I've read around in grow logs and a couple books.
I have one of my plants that was under 24/0 for a month and started to pre-flower for me. Female luckily. It began to show pre-flowers when it was still on 24/0. So I know its entirely possible for it to happen.
I just put the lights down to 18/6 a couple days ago and the pre-flowers on that plant are starting to show pistils now.
None of the other 4 plants I have right now are showing any sign of sex yet though.
That one is a male though, no doubt about it.

Males will grow their balls no matter what your light schedule is. They don't need 12/12 to 'flower'. So, he's hit puberty and he wants some poon...and he should have his head cut off for thinking such impure thoughts!

Males showing their sex before the girls is very common and some strains flower with long days.
