My electric bill went down my first month of growing, only things I had changed were hot water usage, time in shower ect.. and setting house temp at night around 60 instead of 70, throw on an extra blanket :P

This month im running 2000 watts so we shall see though!

Nice.. hopefully the rate will be around the same here.. We'll just def have to watch how we use electricity in the house..

But other than that.. anybody has any info about growing with this light? good one? if I grow a less number of plants would they grow faster than if I grow a lot at the same time?

How long do you think it would take for.. 5-10 plants?

Thats a rip off, he is screwing you over and your a sucker if you pay that much, you can get a brand new one for cheaper or the same price, and you need a 1000 watt high pressure sodium Ballast, not a generator, the Gen. is just going to cost you alot of money to run especially during the Veg stage, they run off of GAS and they are very loued, u will draw attention with one of thoes running all the time and get yourself busted. he is totaly ripping you off you dont need a generator. even at that price with the bulb facterd in is a rip off, do some shopping around online and e-bay u can find way better deal and brand new items. tell him to kiss your ass.

There's no generator.. only a battery that you plug into the wall.. and I looked around the web and a 1000 watt hps system goes for a lot more than what I'm getting it for..

this is a 1 kw hps ballast:
    http://www.plantlightinghydroponics....oducts_id=1386

it's 165$ brand new or you can get a 1kw digital for 350$

a reflector will cost between 65-200$ and a bulb anywhere from $30-100 so you could actually get a new 1kw hps set up for as little as $260!

i just got a 1kw hps ballast, 1kw bulb, a cooltube and a 465cfm ecoplus blower for $325. i already had a ballast housing so i just had to buy a "ballast kit" and wire it myself but i think a brand new1000watt set up for that price is great. if i were you i would search around for a deal on new equipment like i did. i don't think that buying yor friends old set up for $230 is a good deal at all. used equipment is to risky, offer him $50 anfd if he doesn't want to sell spend the extra 30$ and get the brand new set-up for $260. the link i posted is a great place to get what you need if you are interested, i have got stuff from them many times and have never had a problem. i usually recieve my order 3 days after i place it! good luck

Battery isn't going to save you any money. Ballast takes power to operate. Okay, so ballast gets power from battery instead of wall...then battery runs out. Then you recharge battery with what? Electricity... from your wall... I guess if you go over to someone else's house every time you need to recharge the battery, you could save some money, but hard for me to believe any battery a human being is capable of carrying is going to run a 1k light for longer than a few minutes anyway.

The price may or may not be decent. I mean, if it's a dual MH/HPS name brand ballast with 4 years and 10 months left on a 5 year warranty, and comes with a nice reflector and cordset and reasonably fresh bulb, then that'd be a pretty good deal. My new 1k light system was $420 -- hah, just realized that's a funnily coincidental price -- but it's good quality stuff with a 5 year warranty and a great reflector and a new good bulb, and I don't feel ripped off. But then again, part of what I'm paying for is the security of knowing that I've lowered the odds of a fire due to cheap equipment, and that's important to me, since I already watched my house burn down once not too long ago and it was...less than pleasant.

hey man, not trying to be rude but you should really do your homework before you going buying anything. You dont even know the differance between a ballast and a hood. Another thing is buying off someone you call buddy, its sketchy. Buying annonomously is a better bet, the less people who know of your dirty little secret the better off you are. But thats my humble opinion, good luck to you.
