i had the same problem as you and this is what i was told from anouther member on here

(I think there is too much of a big deal made over soil. These plants are literally weeds, they will grow through cracks in tarmac if you let them. I have always used bog standard seedling compost to start my plants off and it has worked fine every time. The only thing I would suggest is not to use soil from the garden as it will have hundreds of insect eggs and bugs in it, which will end up living off your plants.

foxfarm is definately one of the best. if you have the money to put into it, definately do it. i know it doesn't seem like the biggest of deals but use a shitty soil where you could have had better, and you will most likely wish you had later on down the road. also a lot of the other soils have these time released ferts and shit. which when you fertilize you don't know when they're going to pop up so basically all of a sudden you can have a bad nute burn. do it bad enough even once and it will definately fuck your yeild.

spend $12-15 and get Fox Farm Ocean Forrest. many will say this is the best soil you can get for growing cannabis in. I'm using it right now and have absolutely no complaints.

stay away from miracle grow (as well as all other soils that contain time released nutrients)...if you use these, your baby seedlings face a big risk of getting nute burn and dying because they are too young and small to take in nutes.

just make sure your soil has perlite in it to some degree. a good rule of thumb is 4 parts soil to one part perlite. i dont add any extra perlite to my FF Ocean Forrest though.

good luck and keep us posted.
