Anyone else think Tony Kornheiser is a third wheel?

Monday Night Football, both when it was on ABC and now that it's on ESPN, is constantly trying new angles on their broadcasts. First they brought in Dennis Miller, a guy who had no knowledge of the game whatsoever, and was only there to make stupid comments.

Then they introduced that lame camera that rides above the field. Those are some of the worst camera shots. Just stick to the basic view of the field.

Then they got players to introduce themselves in the starting lineup. That shit takes way to long. Go back to just reading their names off a list and let's get past it.

Now they have Tony Kornheiser, a guy who writes about the game, but has never played it himself. He has no personal experiences to draw from during the course of the game. And he often has to stretch for something interesting to say. Apparently a writer needs more time to think about his words before presenting them to the world.

Well if you've seen "PTI" on ESPN, and I'm assuming you have since it's on the same network, you'd know that Kornheiser makes for one hell of a debate. I would agree that most writers probably need more time to think about what they're going to say, but Kornheiser is good at those quick squabbles he gets into on PTI. Plus he's kind of funny because he's so opinionated.

And even when MNF was on ABC, they had those cheesy player-intros where the starters would say their name and their alma-mater, so that's nothing new.

Though Tony hasn't actually stepped out on the field, he's still a good analyst and fan of the game. He knows what he's talking about for the most part. I just wish he would maybe have some more opportunity to get a few words in, but it's hard with those old-timers he's sitting next to. Truthfully, he probably shouldn't be on MNF, but he is certainly better than Dennis Miller, and knows a football from a hockey puck. ~

i always hated kornheiser. but then again i hate any sports dorks who do nothing but debate sports and never play and then try to say they know more. i always would just rather go out and play rather than talk about it.

i like kornheiser and dont think whether he has played has anything to do with it. normally here is the wisdom a player can impart. so give it to us from a qb's perspective joe.

well you know the pressures on and its up to you to execute.

thanks for that amazing insight joe.

i have seen enough football to know that player announcers dont add any angle at all. im not saying there arent good player announcers, but i would rather have a guy that knows how to announce, if he has played its a bonus if not it isnt too bad. also ive never seen a guy who hasnt played just get lost because they havent played. not once as a matter of fact.

that said, kornheiser is a third wheel on mnf. i like him on pti, but he really adds nothing to monday night football. at first they would actually have to ask him things just to get him to talk and someone has clearly told him he has to be the funny guy because he is always trying to make jokes and shit. he is a lot better than dennis miller though. but dennis miller is the worst person i have ever seen in a sports booth.

but its like tirico is the play by play guy, theisman is color, what is kornheiser there for? most of the monday night games this year have been shit matchups anyway honestly more often than not it is one of fthe worst games of the week.

and i also hate how they try to make mnf into a big spectacle with all that shit when it is just l regular game no matter how many commercials there are or camera angles or guest stars and shit they get
