well yeah, i'm just talking about people who say they don't tip ever, or only tip a certain amount like 10% or something even if they did really good. in my mind i'm giving them 15% unless they do something to get it lower, not so much that i go in thinking they are getting nothing unless they wipe my ass for me

Sorry I missed that you said, "At least here anyway".

I have heard of that many other places, and I just recently heard that it does happen around here too. It is really quite uncommon here though.

Our minimum wage is 7.50(possibly bumped up to 7.80 in Jan)..it's really high. I have been a waitress at a few places and all your tips are not included in your hourly wage. However 8% of your wages and tips does have to get counted for for taxes which kind of screws ya over if you aren't making a lot of tips.

I have friends who work in restaurants who claim that after their tips they make an average of 30$ an hour. Pretty nice. I plan on getting a sweet cocktail waitressing job next.

minimum wage went from I think $6.85 to $7.50 in the last couple years, and by 2010 or something it's supposed to be $8.75

and yeah i know this one guy who was bartending for a bit and on a normal saturday shift he'd leave with about $70 from his work and $200 from drunk asses who want more Alex Keith's

My state I think has the 2nd high minimum wage of the US.

    Pretty sweet.
Especially considering federal minimum wage is 5.15.

To me, there are several levels of dining out.

First-There is the fast food slop that you don't tip for anyways

Second- There are the places like Dennys. Perkins, IHOP, Waffle House ect...
those places only pay minium and the kids and older ladies that staff there try hard for the abuse I've seen thrown at them. They deserve at least a few bucks if you're gonna take up a table.

Third. The Family restaurants, be they chinese, greek, Italian, Jewish, Indian ect....these are nice meals. These deserve at least a 15% tip if not more. Food made with love is the best.

Fourth- We have our suit and tie and little sexy black dress on ,we have the valet park our car and we start off with a nice bottle of wine that the sommilier recommended. There is candlelight and the lights are dimmed. The ambience is wonderful, the curls of butter atop crushed ice is lovely as is the relish tray. We order the beouf wellington for two and have a fantastic night.
15-20% doesn't even begin to cut it in this instance......This is a special night and for a special night, you need to pay up. This is a night that you have to be happily ready to part with a $50 at least.

dude yesterday i went to Denny's (great place, btw), and we got this bitchy fucking waitress. it was lame. this has never happened to me, especially not there. so anyways, we didn't tip her at all, because she didn't deserve it _AT_ALL_. what a lamer. if she had a bad day then she shouldn't take it out the people who are gonna be paying you. when we went up to pay, we complained, and the manager said that 5 minutes prior to us complaining someone else complained about her. haha, i hope she looses her job. sucker.

note: we usually pay 15%-20% when the service is good.

Haha i worked in a little diner and I actually told this dude I wasn't serveing him. He eventually left, but I wasn't going to wait on him and I was the only server there. We were able to refuse service to anyone, not sure how legal that is... He was one of those assholes who tries to run you ragged. Than I give him free coffee for his and extra waffle because I fucked up on one. The asshole left nothing. So next time he came in I didn't get him shit. I broke up with a girl over this before.
