Generally, depending on make and model, the thickness of the article is due to how much substance you place in for rolling. However, most will jam and come to a halt if you attempt to roll one that is too thick for it's workings.

A ten-fifteen dollar hand roller will generally give you a range from thin pretzel stick to 1.5-1.75x cigarette sized.
