He did give a good speech! I enjoyed hearing what he said and was impressed with how well he did. He's a likeable guy even if I don't agree with him politically. I'd love to just sit down and talk with him and ask him about all sorts of things. I liked how he used the line "took a good thumpin." His speechwriters have gradually learned how to help him speak like himself, which always helps him connect with the country, I think.

I do think the Repubs have been very gracious, largely. No one can ever go wrong with humility. And they've all been around long enough, just like we have, to know the pendulum swings both ways. It'll swing back in time. It always does.

Much love and peace to you, Bongster!

and as far as your quote goes....... let me prove you wrong my friend

(BTW, i have edited the name of "my town" and the local ACLU president for secutity purposes)

The Times-Union editorial (Sunday, Sept. 10) said that the primary elections in --mytown-- "bordered on disaster" and correctly held accountable our Supervisor of Elections, Jerry Holland. The editorial was accurate but incomplete.

I took all the poll worker training offered by our Election Center and became a Precinct Clerk to learn from an inside perspective the process used to run elections in --mytown-- County.

The process used in --mytown-- lacks transparency, lacks accountability, is an administrative nightmare, and perhaps impossible to properly and consistently implement no matter who holds the Supervisor of Election position.

Jerry Holland decries that the 'glitches' during the primaries were human error. True, but the humans we know as our State Legislators and Division of Elections also erred when they mandated electronic voting machines that make it impossible to verify that the votes cast on each ballot went to the correct candidates. Our legislators have prohibited by statute a full manual recount. We still do not have a voter verifiable paper trail for all ballots cast.

This is inexcusable. Our votes should be cast in private and counted and fully recounted, if necessary, with full public scrutiny.

Sadly, it was good news that voter turnout was light because my precinct was understaffed. Furthermore, there was significant end-of-day confusion at the drop zone where poll workers sign custody of the voting machines to the JSO. Precinct Clerks were unsure whether or not they were supposed to seal the machines prior to taking them to the drop zone. Some did, others did not.

At the drop zone, vote tallies were transferred via a modem over an unsecured telephone line to Election Central. It has been demonstrated that the voting machines are capable of being hacked and vote tallies altered. Yet, many elected officials press on that we should use these machines.

We, the people, deserve to know that our votes were counted correctly. That is why the Advisory Committee accepted my proposal to recommend to the Canvassing Board that --mytown-- County do a Post Election Audit with available ballots from randomly selected precincts, similar in scope to the Pre-Election Logic and Accuracy tests, to reconcile candidate tallies against machine tallies. We should all demand a Post Election Audit. The Canvassing Board should insist on it.

Election results must not be a matter of trust. Election results must be clearly and completely demonstrated. Americaâ??s representation depends on it.
