advice on my small scale grow
well, ive been trying to get a decent grow going for a while and i think this is it. one of my friends is willing to throw down a nice chunk of cash to get the grow going and ill just pay him back with profits (he doesnt even smoke).
so, im looking to make a veg/ flower chamber using this http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?actio...ALP&lpage=none or we might just build one, not sure yet. i plan on scroging 2 plants in soil using a 250w hps and a 23w 27k air purifying cfl and then veg using 2 85w 65k and 2 27w 55k. ill cut holes from intake/ outake fans and also have oscillating fan on the inside. also some sort of ionizer or something for the smell
i chose hashberry after i saw it in hightimes and since its so cheap. im going to order them, then veg them in a tub i have until i get a female, clone and then put the clones in the growbox and just keep it cycling. thoughts/ advice appreciated.klup Reviewed by klup on . advice on my small scale grow well, ive been trying to get a decent grow going for a while and i think this is it. one of my friends is willing to throw down a nice chunk of cash to get the grow going and ill just pay him back with profits (he doesnt even smoke). so, im looking to make a veg/ flower chamber using this http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=57023-16315-SB60OALP&lpage=none or we might just build one, not sure yet. i plan on scroging 2 plants in soil using a 250w hps and a 23w 27k Rating: 5

IMO those cabs. are to small for a 250W hps. I think you'd be better off building your own with that kind of money.
If I knew how to upload a picture on here I'd show you some of the stuff that I've built over the years.
Belive it or not, but one of the best ways to go about this is on trash day!
Cruise the hood in your car/truck on trash day, and find yourself a good useable peice of furniture that can be reworked.
thats what I've done for my mother chamber.
People will have no clue, as long as your smart about it.
As for the bloom chamber, that was a diffrent story.
I resorted to building my own peice of furniture for that. Not an easy task, but well worth it in the end

at home depot they have these cabs called C13 they are the perfect growing box just cut your holes and add fans and light and its good to go, and best thing about is its already painted reflective white so no reflective material needed and its cheaper.
its a portable closet if that helps....

C 13's are nice, but they are still allot of work to set up. You need to replace the back with normal wood or it can be to wobbly and the cardboard backing can get rotted after a few grows, also light proofing the doors are very tricky for many and once they are put up they really should stay in that area it seems like after you drag them apart they are never the same again.
Also, you need to do all of the vent holes and plug in holes and threw the wood and your not just using a razor like on small cabs.
I have a double c24, meaning I took two 72x47x19 cabinets and put them together with a 1K light and believe me it was some work. I also have a small 30x30x19 cabinet with a 175MH and 6x23 CFL's for veg/mother with fan and passive intake so I have a little experience with the cab growing.
Adieu

sounds nice, but i couldnt find any c13 cabs at lowes. im sure that ill end up building the frame from wood i have and then covering it with some plywood or maybe cardboard in some spots.
which would be better?
85w/65k/4200 lumens cfl for $20
or
85w/50k/5000 lumens envirolite style for $16

hey klup - I'm making a C13 sized cab from bits of scrap wood and cardboard, have a look it might give you some ideas. I should be finnishing it off tomorrow with a plastic zipper door - just waiting for another 200w CFL to arrive.

dont use anything that will catch fire easily, imo cardboard is bad lol. buy a hydrohut or somethin. u can do wonders with 2x4's, ply wood kalk and a good plan.

Yeah agree wiv ya JackdaWack - but I use CFLs and I can handle them even when they've been on for hours and my reflectors are made out of cardboard covered in mylar (yes I'm a cheap-skate).
But you are right - saftey first, make sure you have a smoke detector in your grow room
