    Are there little guys doomed?

    Soil: Lowe's generic top soil

Lights: 4 26w daylight 6500k cfls @ 1600 lumens each and 4 24" 6500k daylight tubes @ 1025 lumens each. 10500 lumens total in a 2x2 space, but only using about a 1x2 part of it so just a lil over 2 square feet used.

It seems like all the leaf tips are browning and like the growth thats been there for a while is pale.

The temp was too hot at nearly 100 farenheit even with a small pc fan blowing on them so i had to open the door to the closet. I hope im not letting out oo much light.

Oh and its just bagseed, of which most do not seem to want to germinate or are very slow to.

I tried a Sierra Organics Topsoil mixed with perlite and it was waaaaay too hot for my seedlings. I killed off two batches of seedlings thinking the problem was elsewhere...repotted in Fox Farms Lite Warrior and they are taking off and returning to green now. I think topsoil is too rich for some seedlings.

Why are you using so many lights? And in such a small area too? Jeez.. you are probably burning them. You would be fine all the way till flowering with just those cfls, where it probably would still be fine.

well i know ya cant believe everything you read, but i read in a thread that anything less that 2000 lumens per square foot and they die, and that 5000+ is best, but even with the larger fan i just put in there i still cant close the closet door without 90+ degree temp. maybe its good i have so many lights because im sure im loosing a lot of it with the door open. thoughts and opinions welcome and appreciated.

50 watts per square foot is a general rule of thumb on the lower end.
    Let the good times roll!!

your setup is great, but you HAVE to keep that heat down!! what kind of grow is it: cabinet, closet, room, etc? flood us with info
a stoner thinking about purpose is like a redneck wanting another beer. it\'s gonna happen eventually.

I dont know why you were under that impression, but its absolutely ridiculous to have that many lights for two plants in their early growth.. even in their late growth. You could get away with only using only two of those CFLs if you really wanted to, and then adding the other two as the plant gets bigger.

you need more VENTILLATION not CIRCULATION! a fan blowing air around the space is circulation and does very little to lower temps. ventillation is exhausting the hot air from the space and bringing in cool air to replace it.

what you said about letting to much light out is strange. if you leave the door open the light does not escape and not get to the plants. the problem is that if there is a light leak it can compromise the security of the grow and also if light gets out that means it also gets in and if your dark cycle isn't completely dark then your plants will have huge problems when you try to flower them. just something to think about. good luck
