    There are legendary guitar players that are still alive and their stardom only fades a little bit as far as I am concerned as time goes on. Look at Eric Clapton or Jimmy Page or David Gilmore, they are all spectacular guitar palyers in their own right. But they are all different styled guitar players and I enjoy their music just as much as I enjoy listening to Axis, Bold as Love or Little Wing. {Which is my favorite song of all time.}
    Jimi may well be the best guitar player of his generation but there are people that can play just as well as Jimi and even better. I have friends that would make you cry listening to them play guitar because it is so beautiful.
    This one guy Kenny I know who just moved to Oregon is the most natural guitar player I have ever heard play and he can play Jimi Hendrix music to the note which is no easy feat by any means.
    I wish I could attach a Jimi song for all of us to jam to right now, I would play VooDoo Chile. I am going to play it for myself now.

    its not about being a CD player, because instrument talent can be attained by anyone. Jimi was a true innovator and went places no one had ever gone before with music. It was raw and harsh guitar mixed with blues. It had never been done so brutally and with so much soul. Jimi changed music forever.

    In terms of instrument talent, of course there are players with more instrument talent then jimi, he was a left handed player in a time when left handed guitars didnt exists, in a time where guitar knowledge was not as easily circulated as it is today, where anyone can learn how to play guitar online in minutes.

    Times have changed, and what Jimi did, the music he played, the words he wrote and the songs he made his own, in the time that he did it, is what truly makes him the greatest guitar player of all time.
