First grow - Leaves curling, NEED HELP PLZ!
I have 2 plants under 2 150w CFLs right now. One of them has all of its leaves curled upward. Kind of like it's reaching for the light.
I also wondered what light time cycle they should be on. THey are only 8 days old and I have had them on 24/7. And when can I start using fertilizer?
Any help would be great.

Start fertilizer when ever but start really light, like 20% then step it up as time goes on. Just start light.
Also make sure your CFL bulbs are within 2 or 3 inchs of plants.

That is still debatable...but I asked this in this area labeled 24/0 or 18/6. If you scroll down...or it might be on the next page you should be able to find it. There was some really good research done on it. I decided to leave mine on for 24 until they flower.

My :twocents: :
~curling leaves~
First off, I don't know if you are talking about the leaves "reaching" for the light, which is normal and ok...or actual "curling" of the leaves, which is another problem that I don't see much with new seedlings, but could be a variety of things. The only thing I could assume is maybe you are frying the seedlings with those CFLs if you have them too close. So, are they curling or reaching? And are they crispy, like toast?
~fertilizer~
Fertilizer is not required until the plant develops it's third or fourth set of serrated leaves, if I'm not mistaken. Then you can start it slowly and work your way up from there. How many leaves does it have? How tall is it?
~light cycle~
The debate is still out on the 24/0 or 18/6 vegetative light cycle. I prefer 18/6 personally, but I think it depends on your situation. I think that if you have limited growing space, 18/6 would help you control the growth (for a perpetual harvest-type system)...but if you are vegging and flowering in the same space, then probably use 24/0 to finish veggin' faster.
And that is my partially-educated :twocents:
G'luck.

First grow - Leaves curling, NEED HELP PLZ!
I checked them today. I noticed the soil was a little dry-er than normail and the leaves on one plant were definitely curled in like a taco shell and they felt a little crispy on the edges.. I'm guessing they were getting baked by the lights. Will they be ok if I just get them some water?
I was also wondering what the soonest time to start flowering is.
I only have 2 months until I leave the country for 3 weeks and I don't want to have all this work go to waste.
If I flower early can I still get a small amount of smokeable bud?
Thx for the input!

your plants will mature between 4-8 weeks of veg (if from seed) if you boost them with nutes, you should be able to flower at day 30-40. if you go 12/12 n e sooner than that, your plants will still have to reach maturity, will have stunted growth, and won't flower for several weeks later than it should, and greater possibility of hermie-ism.
it looks like you may be a little s.o.l. unless you can find a babysitter, or set up a self controlled unit to water, turn lights on/off, etc.
what are your temps at (where plants are)? are the leaves culing up or down?
try misting...
