Sorry dude, I'm a little confused here by your post, so I may answer you wrong...But if it's just a plain old ordinary glass hand pipe, you don't put water in it. You really don't even need a filter. After a couple of uses it will resin up and everything will stay in. Though you can buy glass filters if you have an overly large opening in the bottom of the bowl.

If you have a bubbler, then yes youâ??ve basically got the right idea. Otherwise just stick it in the bowl and smoke away.
