I keep the bowl lit for aslong as im breathing in for a pipe.
For a bong - i fill it up with smoke, take a breath ,then inhale all thats in side the chamber so its cleared.

Oh people, you're so rude, so what, he's new to pipes, help a new person out. When a new person comes to a workplace or school, do you talk to them like this? Come on, get the sticks out of your bum and puff a bowl.

Sounds to me like you're torching the bowl. The best way to pack a bowl is to snip up the bud, or just with your fingers, pick it into smaller pieces. I find when you just cram a nug in the bowl, you have to torch the bowl to get it going, which can be wasteful. So, break it up, pack it, and just let the flame of your lighter lick the top of the grass, inhale, and when your lungs are full, stop. Repeat.

Your weed is burning up too fast. Ease back on the flame as it sounds like you're just torching your bowl. Burn it slower. Just use the pipe and you'll get the hang of it.

I use bowls all the time and it conserves my weed nicely.

Yep, im with Chowder. I have used a bowl for year's and can smoke it for a couple of minutes each packed bowl. Just hit it hard when it's burnin and when you get a lung full put a quarter over it to smother it and continue until it's gone. Very conservative. Also this way using a doob tube creates almost no smell at all. Just my two cents.

For all of you saying joints and blunts waste weed.... learn to roll a joint. I can roll a kingsize rizla joint with 2 bowls of weed and make it burn for 45 mins easily... but the 2 bowls would last how long? Point exactly. Also, joints have the highest THC transfer rate.

Joints are scientifically better than pipes.

The reason they waste more is because they take more weed then a bowl does. Plus, it's burning all the time, therefore wasting thc. Can you make a pure joint burn for 45 minutes, Lip? I think it has something to do with the tobacco.

I have a one-hit, dry, glass bong, where the total holding capacity is small enough so that I can inhale all of the volume easily. If I smoke the amount of pot in my pipe that I would use to roll a blunt I can get high all day long instead of just a couple of hours. I have been toking for over 40 years now and I can attest to the fact that pipes are way more efficient than joints. When I only have a gram left in my stash I don't have to panic 'cause I have enough to keep me blasted all day long, whereas a joint-roller person would have only one good doobie left outa his last gram and would have to find more right away if he wanted to stay stoned the rest of the day. I now smoke for medical reasons and I am on a fixed income so every penny is counted three-fold and joints just aren't in my budget most of the time, its just too wastefull.
