Don't be upset at peoples opinions.

I have listened to all their albums, plenty of times as that's what I was raised on, but I like music that is a little more upbeat. Their music is too slow and dreamy for me (despite the few songs).

They are not a Rock n Roll band, they do not rock out at all. They are mellow.

And album sales mean nothing to me. Britney Spears has sol millions of records, but she still sucks, you know.

It's just an opinion, and the question was if they are greatest rock n roll band ever, and no, I don't think they are.

Lol, I wasn't upset in the slightest. Britney does suck, extremely. Albums sales mean something though, obviously a lot of people like her, mostly teenage girls but still. The thread says are they one of the best bands ever, not the greatest. That's kool you've listened to all their albums, I don't know how you can say they don't rock out. The wall was a rock opera, nearly every album they did something different. Obscured by clouds is a great example of a rockin album. Animals... Sure, a lot of their stuff is slow, but i believe that's because unlike most bands these days they actually had passion for the music and you can really tell and appreciate it. They were one of the best live performers, especially with their light shows. They are a band with many different styles, psychadelic, progressive, but they're mainly classed as classic rock.

On another note, i used to think Led zeppelin were over rated but then i listened to a lot of their songs and now i love them. Most people only know pink floyd for the wall and darkside, possibly wish you were here. They don't know albums like more or atom heart mother, or meddle. Anyway, as i said they are my favourite band and i'm just trying to do them justice, ofcourse you have your own opinion and this won't change the way you view pink floyd. Keep on tokin

Some led Zeppelin is overrated, like Stairway to Heaven. A fun song to jam on the guitar, but by far not one of their greatest songs.

I guess I just don't see Floyd in the same rock n roll sense as Cream or Led. They are different, a different kind of rock. A mellower rock, more spaced out kind of rock n roll, despite the song Money, which I do love, is a rockin song.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Floyd, but I guess I just don't see them as legends like everyone else does. Their music is good, but the greatest? No.

Wasn't Dark side of the Moon on the charts for like 700 straight weeks? I remeber reading that somewhere, VERY impressive sales.

I enjoy Floyd's early work with Syd Berret more so than I do Gilmour. They were more rockin then, like Cream or something.

To each his own though, but I really enjoy Comfortably Numb, Wish You Were Here and Money, the most. :thumbsup:

Great songs, I actually like Floyd better after Barrett. It kind of had the same sounds when he was with them, but that's just my 2 cents.

I prefer their live version of SOYCD Part 1, it sounds more pure.

I'm going to see a PF cover band this friday, it's gonna be SWEET.

I actually went and saw The Pink Floyd Experience last year I think it was. Anyways, it was just a cover band from Australia, but I mean they sounded JUST like them, with the funky lazer shows and shit. It was a fun time.

they are good but if you arent high seems so boring its nigh unlistenable. high they are great, otherwise boring, that is my opinion. and i dont know about one of the best bands ever. a very good and unique band. that is for sure

They're unique, yes, but I don't feel that they're top 5 even. I agree that you honestly have to be in the right 'mindset' to enjoy them, otherwise they're very slow and spacey. ~

i also agree w/ the people saying they have to be in the mood to listen to floyd (even though that goes with a lot of music). I agree too that it starts to bore me a little if I'm not stoned and really into it. but this is my opinion, it doesnt mean that they arent one of the greatest. i just dont really see it. dont get me wrong though i do like them. im goin to a laser show in december! will be verrrrrrrry baked
