they are good but if you arent high seems so boring its nigh unlistenable. high they are great, otherwise boring, that is my opinion. and i dont know about one of the best bands ever. a very good and unique band. that is for sure

Floyd kicks major ass!

Dark side of the Moon...w/o that album, I'd be lost. It's best listened to during a storm, sitting in the car, with the seat layed back. I can't count the times I've done that.

I like a few Pink Floyd tunes, hell, I even play Wish You Were Here all the time on guitar, but I think they are overrated. They're not THAT great, and I find them rather boring after a few tracks of one of their albums. They're too slow for me, too slow and dopey sounding.

My fav. song by them has to Money. I wish they made more songs like that instead of dreamy songs. They just put me to sleep, although The Wall is an amazing album, but only every once in awhile.

I liked Floyd when Syd was singing. They were more rock n roll sounding.

Give me some fucking Led Zeppelin and I'm good.

No offense to Floyd fans, but this is just my opinion.

For the people who say they're over rated, I doubt you've listened to all of their albums. Also, for anyone to say that they are not one of the best bands ever, disregards the album sales and the long lasting position in the charts of darkside of the moon.

Definitely one of the best bands ever. I had the extreme good fortune to see them live back in '95 and I can honestly say that out of the 100+ concerts I've been to it was by far the best.

The very fact that young people are talking about this 33 years after Dark Side of the Moon was released says a lot. I seriously doubt that 30 years from now you'll see a poll asking " Is (insert name of modern band)the best band ever?"

Zep is great too, and of course the Beatles, plus The Who, Rolling Stones, etc. So much great music came out of the late 60's/early 70's. You just don't see that kind of talent coming together anymore.

I have listened to all their albums, plenty of times as that's what I was raised on, but I like music that is a little more upbeat. Their music is too slow and dreamy for me (despite the few songs).

They are not a Rock n Roll band, they do not rock out at all. They are mellow.

And album sales mean nothing to me. Britney Spears has sol millions of records, but she still sucks, you know.

It's just an opinion, and the question was if they are greatest rock n roll band ever, and no, I don't think they are.
