I have 120acres....How 2 pick a spot? help me out

Well im currently growing inside and i love it but i figure since im on a 120acre plot of hills and alot of woods, why not grow outside?

i dont know if there is much difference in quality or quanity indoor vs. outdoors.

So how do i go about picking my location? there are low spots and high spots, i have a huge creek running though the property, mainly woodlands but not very dense...we have 3, 20 acres fields and a few large hills, one has a clearing on ther top of it

i really am clueless on how to find a perfect spot since im used to being able to control my environment indoors...

My initial idea was to plant in 5 gallon buckets, just for ease of use, but would digging a hole in the ground be more wise?

im assuming i will start from seed and veg them inside for about a week or atleast till they has a pair of leaves...

with an infinite number of location to grow, do you think maybe growing a few plants in different locations would be a good idea.

i know of 2 locations where growing is outof the question...The base of these huge powerline towers, and we have 2 oil pumps...these location are check regularly by the companies that own them, so im gonna stay clear of those areas, dont want the power company to steal and smoke my shit haha

...so do they need to be in direct sunlight all time? or can they be at the edge of the woods? i live in the midwest( great lakes area) so what is the flower time looking like?

sorry for all the questions, im a big fan of the search button so you dont have to yell at me lol

maybe ill paint the buckets brown or dark green so they blend in a little more, i just dont knwo how to face the plants, with trees/hills on the east of the plant or trees/hills on the west side of the plant, thats why i considered the tops on the hills....

i was planning on some papaya seeds and maybe white widow, the grow is still months away but i really dont know the perfect month to plant, assuming like any gardener, after the last frost...

let me know what you think, im not a guru but i consider myself knowledgeable on the subject of indoor cultivation

Firstly start them off inside till there about 8 inch, that will give them a better chance against bugs n shit. Keep a fan on them so they get strong in this time, dont want to find them snapped after 1 day :P.
Onto location - on hills they its more likely that mold will occur while flowering (not certain just more likely), however id put some on that clearing you were on about. Direct sunlight is going to be the best, i think in your location have a clear south (plants facing south) but if im wrong just keep an eye on where your going to plant and see if the sunlight is good. Spread your plants about if possible (asuming your not going to be carrying a shit load of water to locations far apart), use it as a opertunity to experiment, after a few grows you will know which spot is the best and do most of your growing there.

Strains - white widow is an indoor plant, arnt the biggest of plants. go with a sativa, or a sativa dominant strain, cos its all your land doubt anyone will see a big ass 7ft beast in the right location

Amount - Because indoors space is usually limited large plants are usually out of the question, people tend to go for a indica dominant strain (WW northern lights etc). youve got all the hight in the world and a sativa will get bigger than you hopefully the cola will be half the size of you, and if your one of those really little people maybe as big lol. Thats alot of bud.

hope this info helps, the skiing arab

Oh and the creak sounds like a nice location, nice rich soil there, unless it floods sometimes. And if there is some good spots in the woodland (nice and open) bang some in there, they will never be seen. wish i had all that land id be harvesting 10lb a day lol

Find a gently-sloping hillside, even the bank of the creek, that gets early morning sun to get the dew off your plants so they don't mold.
So a south facing slope would be ideal.
Make sure the soil is rich, but well-drained, and if it isn't start adding compost to it now so it will be all ready and settled by spring.

yeah i got turned onto growing outdoors cuz i saw some pics on www.waytoomany.com and his colas were as long and as fat as his leg

would growing in 5 gallon buckets be enough root room?

i have a few atvs so transporting water would be a sinch

im gona go test the ph of the creek, that would save me alot of time

it floods often but we are about 20 ft above the creek level(i think about 20ft) so i dont know i was just worried about the sunlight issue

Use Google Earth to check out the land from above. Awesome tool for scouting outdoor grow locations.

you dont want to plant anywhere that may get flooded low spots that flood is a bad choice, would say go with whatever strain you want but you probably cant go with a pure sativa due to the longer flowering times it probably wouldnt finish in your area but ther is alot of indica/ sativa crosses with shorter flowering times im sure even ww would get fairly good sized outdoors.

you could use a 5 gallon bucket if you do not want to stick them in the ground you may atleast want to paint them so they dont stick out so bad and drill alot of holes in the bottom for drainage.
