i know alot people who will use pure cfl on top during veg and then put their hps in on top during flowing and put the cfls on the sides, which sound like a good idea. u will get bigger and wider buds and a bigger yeild, alot of time people will top their plant so the light to the bottom and they get big buds

yea i have a old night club lighting controller__dxm__
i have been thinking i could use it to controll the lights like the sun ....
acaully with it i could direct more light in areas where i wanted.


hey dryst got any cheap root manipulater ideas..i have used HORNSBYS but i have to drive to shady spot inthe city and they charge out the ass....
thanks......i currently use 1part pea gravel one part perlite one part spagnum .and one part miracle grow soil.......i fill the bottom wit rock then mix the rest but in the middle i do a nother level of rock ...i use 8 wide 8 deep planters ---now ive had some bomb flame wit this ..but i would like some bigger roots....

im guessing ur growing from clones?...

i only grew from clones twice, the first time using a rooting powder...i forget the name..but it was horrible and i lost almost all 15 of the clones

second time i used POWER CLONE rooting gel and it worked alot better

most my grows i do from seed even though i do get a riduculoius ammount of males, i prefer to grow from seed (i dunno why...)

i use 5 gallon buckets ( if u want longer roots [and an overall better plant] get a bigger container rule of thumb is 1 gallon per foot height wise of the plant) it works for me and at harvest time my plants are usually around 4'6 , if they get any taller i have to top em due to the lack of space...

but i use about 30%-40% perlite with a mixed soil (with peat moss)
i fill the bottom with rocks as well to promote better drainage, just outta curiousity why do u put another layer of rock in the middle?, it might stress the plant and prevent the plant from rooting better, and i hear miracle grow is famous for burning seedlings with their additives?

how much yeild do u usually get off a plant?

aaahhhh i get about a 1/2 -O from each ....i only keep colas..i used to just let em go but they get to messy in my box....
i do the gravel thing so that the strong out reaching roots hit that gravel in the middle later in the process ...my mind tells me that the roots could use a break and some air ..after going through the first layer of dirt ..the dirt gets into the rock real good .and i would think the gravel evenly distribute water
ive never had prob ---but i use a total of 360 watts ..
i have heard that soil temp has to do with --male female--but im not sure
i have always used flame seeds ...but i always get females--one or two males-
i have found that smaller seeds make more females......
i use reptile heating mats for seedlings...

wierd...1 time i used a heating pad and i looked at the seeds a week later and the fucking things had maggots crawling in em, so i dont use heating pads anymore

ur using a small layer of gravel? i thought u were using like a layer of rocks big ones

i dunno if soil temp has anything to do with male/femlae but i do know the dampness gets hot it can cause mold

only a half o?...how big do they get? thats a small yield per plant...i can get anywhere from 2 1/2 os to 4(<----that was my largest yeild off 1 plant,i left it in veg for an extra 3weeks)

yea i only mess with ---apollo and nebula...and mostly some miss iraq from like 5 years ago ---my parteners been cloning them for a while ...
i cut off all bottoms and only keep the tops ,,,i also only grow about 10 at a time...its more of a personal all the time thing ....keeps my house smelling good too

what do you guys think of the light all around thing .???

I actually veg under 4-footers, just 2x40w cool white, with great results, until they get too big and have to get moved under my little MH250.
This pic is some Godbud X vegging under flouros, had to swing the light out of the way.

Light all around... I'd say fine for small box grows. But a major pain in the ass to build compared to hanging a 600w HPS from the ceiling
