Whenever these type of moods hit me I do a couple of things.

I sit down, put on some music to match the mood, and try to feel my emotions as strongly as possible. Afterwards, whether I was crying or screaming or whatever, doing something distracting helps. Read an interesting book, go for a walk, etc. And then later, planning out a meal is a nice touch. I love looking forward to dinner.
