First Grow.. Oppinions and suggestions needed
Hi everyone, this is my first grow started from some bagseed. I am using two CFL's that say 65w power and 500w of light output.. I saw someone else reccommend them on here so I thought I'd give it a go. I have a fan that is always sucking air from a smaller intake hole so I'm pretty sure the ventillation is good. The picture is day 10 since they sprouted and I'm just concerned that they aren't as big as they should be. I had to transplant them to the big pots with high quality organic soil yesterday because I foolishly put all my seedlings in one very small pot and the roots got all crazy.. Any help is appreciated. Also when watering pots this size, should I water it till the water comes out the drainage holes and then not water it for like 3 days? Oh and by the way, the pots are on a shelf so I'm gonna move it down as the plants grow..

hmm you might have gone wrong with the good organic soil with such small seedlings. Maybe not it depends on strain. Did you mix perlite in with it.
for my seedlings i use a mix of 50% perlite and some peatmoss and sand
as for light. The best way to figure it out is to find the lumens per sq foot
your plants will die with less than 2000lumens/sq foot. 5000 is ok
and 7000 is optimum. the watts arn't as important as the lumens. So find the area and find the lumens. But you will need more light once they get bigger. Right now they are fine.
Also watch the heat. Heat stress can look ilke nute burn. so keep your heat below 85 FGreat website www.beansandbarley.com

That's 10 days?!
Holy shit dude. Mine's at 14 days, and 10 times taller than that.
And 10 times more mature looking than that.
(See Picture.)
What you can't see in mine though, is that it looks like a flower when you look at it head-on. The picture taken here is crappy, because it was done with my webcam, and that's as high as I could position it. But there are alot more leaves than shown. Most are in the dead-center.
You must not have the light close enough, is my guess.
I'm using a single 150 Watt CFL on mine, and it's doing pretty good. Then again, my light is about 5-6 inches away from my plant, and was kept relatively close during the entire period, untill it got mature looking. After about a week, the fucker took off and started sprouting leaves and nodes like crazy.
I suggest you just put your light closer and see what comes of it.
