Interesting point. As I saw on CNN this morning, they said the Sunnis made up the largest group protesting Saddam's death penalty, and the Shiites were celebrating it. However, I also heard a week or so ago that the insurgents were made up of two groups: One, mostly Sunnis, which are comprised of ex-Saddam military officers and soldiers..... and the other, mostly shiites, which are battling it out on religious grounds and a religious-based hatred of Western nations. I may have the sunni/shiite factions mixed up though, I don't remember for sure.

Thats very true, thats why i didn't wanna point specific fingers because i dont know for sure whose fighting who...

But, the point i was trying to make is that there are shiite iraqi soldiers that are fighting alongside the US and that group of people are the ones celebrating Saddam's sentancing.

I can only think ahead to when im 45-50 years old and looking back on this war... i wonder how the outcome will be..?

Hmmmm, I believe this man should be punished with death, but I mean since 1988 hes been doing his genocide thing, and now we decide to take action? He should have never been captured in the first place.. but that's just my :twocents:. Not saying that he wasn't a bad guy who didn't do bad things, but look what it has gotten us into in Iraq. I don't think that needs any explanation.

ending his life will do nothing to compensate for those people he so brutally murdered, this execution is 20 years over due,really this does nothing, infact that fucker thinks his "god" is going to give him 50 some odd virgins, he probably cant wait to feel that rope tighten around his cowardly neck.

all and all i will miss saddams appearances on south park, hilarious.

Killing people solves absolutely nothing. In fact, i predict his death will only make things worse. Those who were loyal to saddam will view him as a martyr. They will fight for their martyred hero saddam. The war in Iraq may get much worse after this.

If anything i think they should make him walk around naked in his hometown and let people throw tomatoes at him. And then of course put him in jail for the rest of his days.

Honestly, I think the only court with the jurisdiction to try him is a world court. After all, it was HIS country and HIS dictatorship, so everything he did while being the big-bad dictator was perfectly legal. Crimes against humanity by a ruler are supposed to be tried outside the country since that's the only higher power, no?

And I know you could say "Well, he ordered hundreds to be murdered and that'll get you a death sentence under the new government" Ex post facto laws are supposed to be immoral...that's why they're not allowed in the constitution.

If he was arrested BEFORE the new elected gov. was in place........still no! The "world" didn't want to get dirty so if he wasn't tried by the Iraqi courts it should have been up to the countries involved to decide his fate. Why the hell should most of these dirty food for oil countries have ANY say?

Tell ya what.....you want a world court? I have a U.N. flag and I say hang the son of a bitch!!:cursing:
