god?
here is the truth, i myself dont' believe in god, but this is a universal answer, we will never know, ever, period. all we can do is speculate, that's it, nothing more. there is no proof either way, and it's a constant battle, that started many many years ago, and doesn't look like it'll be ending anytime soon.
for every inconsistancy you throw in a christian's face, they have an excuse, or in their words a 'reason', it doesn't matter what you shove their nose in, there's always a back door, always a way out, the further and further you shove, the more and more likely it's going to end with some vauge statment such as "god has his will, and everything follows that will, he needs not to explain himself to us, because he is god" or something along those lines.
it's useless to stir up the controversy over it, it's useless to try and make people listen to reason, all they know is there's a magical man up there, that made everything, and has a will for everything, and that's it. as much as i hate to actually say it, it's called faith, they can't for sure know it's there, they can't see it, all they can do is have faith that they're not being decieved, and follow the life the bible and 'god's word' has set out for them.
imho, i don't believe in god, but the bible does have alot of valuable morals and rules in it, that without, life would be pretty damn bad, can you imgaine how many more murders, and other violent criminals there would be, if they too, didn't think there was some magical man watching them... for alot of people out there, the only thing that keeps them in check, and living a 'decent' life is fear....
fear is a powerful tool, it can cause you to throw out everything you know, survival is a prime example, some guy pulls a gun on you, you get scared. mostly all you can think about is how you're going to rip that gun out of his hand and kill him with it, whereas, if you weren't scared, murder would never even cross your mind. fear can make a man walk a straight line, it can make a man run far away from that line... which brings me to my most upheld belief, one i believe more than any other scenario or theory i've concocted in this twisted wreck i call my brain...
the bible was created by men, to scare men. think about it, what more than a god, could put enough fear in hundreds of thousands, millions of people, and make them abide by common everyday values we all live by now. back then there wasn't forensics, there wasn't really much of any justice system, so how do you keep all these people in check, and abide these rules we'll call the rules of life? (not stealing, not killing, ect ect, most of it is in the ten commandments) well if you have no real way of tracking down culprits of crimes and making them pay for them, hopefully putting fear into others so they don't follow the same path, you give them god, god, watches everything, every move, he knows what you're going to do before you do it, and if you should so happen to break these laws he's set for you, the punishment is everlasting torture...
people back then were also alot more gullable then now, which made it easy to set in the word of god, and put the fear into people in order to controll them... i've spent countless hours, trying to solve the great mystery of life and god, but somehow i always can only come to this conclusion, even the bible itsself admits it was written by man, it claims it's the word of god, but a man still wrote it, god himself didn't come down with a golden feather to dictate his own words...
being that it was written by man, completey discredits the whole idea to me, people make mistakes, people over exagerate, and people plain out lie... quite personally, life is too short to be trying to figure out which words were 'actually from god' and which were not meant to be there in the first place.... not to mention this book was written well over 2,000 years ago, and been translated hundreds of times... it's like that kids game where you whisper something into the person's ear that's next to you, and by the time the phrase has gone through 10 people, the phrase is absolutely nothing like what it started....slipknotpsycho Reviewed by slipknotpsycho on . god? im not saying that i believe in a god, but i was reading here, stoned, and thinking. if there is a god, he is a sick and twisted being. this quote was from an earlier post in this forum JaggedEdge has a very good point. if god was is an all-powerfull, all-knowing, all-creating being, he would know who would make it in the world, and who wouldnt. from what i have been told, (my aunt is a minister) this world is a judgement for heaven. why would he want to watch us suffer, if we are all Rating: 5
