Pistilles?

Ok so my roomate was telling me something about how his friends weed "hairs" used to fall and they would smoke solely those by themselves

and from waht ive learned, the hairs are just the pistilles and have nothing to do with THC and he was like "nah man thats where all the THC is at"

So I want to know once and for all...

DO the hairs contain any trichomes what so ever?

although i'm sure that's not where 'allt he thc is at' i'm sure there's still quite a bit contained within those pistils, either by having trichromes dirrectly attatched to it, or they make their own, i don't know... but i've heard of plenty of people smoking pistils and getting high after a harvest when their plants aren't quite cured yet.
