its illegal bcoz of the money side of it as theres no tax involved, there thinking of legalising it and putting on a high tax on it which they think will make people not buy it whihc is bull shit!

medical marijuana dispensaries pay their taxes, if marijuana was to be legalized it would be sold in dispensaries and would in fact pay taxes so that is not the real reason.

cannabis is illegal because it's hemp is multi purpose (textiles, paper), its seeds could be used to make oil, and it would run several pharmaceutical companies out of business (painkillers, sleep medicine).

this is very much a part of the reason for marijuana being illegal.
also not to mention the united states government has to justify their reason for starting the DEA with this ongoing war on drugs which is funded like billions and billions of dollars per year if marijuana was legal most of this spending would not be "justified" lol, also there is many many people in jail because of marijuana and to make it legal they would have to do something about all these "political" prisoners.

They do tax drugs in some states now(doesn't mean they are legal, read up on it.) Secondly, even if they legalize and apply a much more broad taxation, there will still be people who buy and sell under the radar. It isn't illegal because of the taxation issues in any case. It is illegal because some dumbass made it that way, and now our nation would fucking collapse if the government ever reniged on any fucking thing.

I just dont understand why they ban cannabis when things like cigarettes remain legal. The government releases annual reports about the thousands of people who die each year due to cigarettes and the thousands of chemicals in them, yet they can't come up one case of someone dieing from weed. The constitution claims we have the right to pursuit of happiness yet I cant smoke a joint!? I cant even grow a couple plants to research and dispute their bogus claims that weed is detrimental to our health? And when organizations like the APHA (American Public Health Association) complete expensive and detailed studies and urge the gov. to make cannabis available to the public the government refuses to listen....wheres my right to pursuit of happiness?

Time will tell boys and girls, i storngly belive that our generation to come, people born in the 80's will have a very strong influence on the legalization to come, it may be 20 years from now, but people will think back on there days, when they become politicians and how well irrelevant it is to illegalize marijuana, some one is going to find the money market and fully take advantage of it, and well all us growers can just give em the finga!
