Taking a Break?
Well, I've struggled with this concept more than I'd like to admit, but it's always seemed feudal. I can't quit! That's not actually true, but it is always an exacerbating task. Within the past couple of years, I've been able to do a couple of weeks at the most, but the process is always so long that I cave and have to have a smoke. The groggyness and dissasociation eventually always has me yelling, "fuck" right before I light up a joint and chill out. My question is, are there any known natural remedies to help the body in purging the left- over cannabinoids and thc accumulated from years of habitual smoking? I've heard of Calamus root, anything else?

Taking a Break?
You were probably just using it heavily, and incorperated it into your lifestyle. Anything we incorperate into our lifestyles is going to be hard to give up just like that. To the average person out there, taking away television would be pretty bad. Remember how much it sucked not having TV for those days you were punished, and how simply awesome it was the second you got it back? Works the same way with weed, because weed is not additive to a point where you need it. You just want it, and mostly because you are so used to using it, and everything else feels like it sucks.
If your at a point in time where you gotta put weed aside to make room for important things, then thats what you gotta do. It you really have trouble not smoking, maybe try smoking less often gradually until you take a true break. I took a break when I grew, which worked out pretty well since I was still around it so in a way I guess that helped. It also takes up quite a bit of time setting everything up and maintaining it. Eventually I came back and only smoked in moderation from there on out for the most part. The less often you do it, the better it truly is.

Taking a Break?
Natural remedies: Excercise! Smoking pot was never as easy as it is now, because I took fitness class 3 times a week, and my weekend job requires a bit of moving around too. As long as you're doing more than sitting in class or sitting in front of your computer, thats enough excercise. Since the leftover THC is stored in your fat cells (thats how pot drug tests work!), it makes perfect sense to burn off that fat!
Sunlight! Take a half hour walk, go play some sports, read a book in the sun, anything but do it in the sun. It may be a bit cold right now, but if you can grab a winter coat and rake some leaves, you will make it easier for your body to replenish its melatonin at night (pot purges melatonin in your brain), which brings me to:
Sunset! If you can, watch the sunset. Sunset triggers your body to produce melatonin, and will make the evening without pot much easier.
Unnatural but helpful: Melatonin sleeping pills, if you can find them. My local Bulk Barn had them, most health food stores do too. They give you the same sleepy effect that pot does , without the high, helping you with the insomnia during the withdrawal. Melatonin is great if you picked the wrong day to run out of/quit weed, and really need to get to sleep. They give you REAL and R.E.M. sleep, unlike traditional sleeping pills, and they are less addictive.
I've done alot of research on all of these, but I don't feel like finding the resources right now. If you want, look up: DHEA (sunlight hormone), Melatonin (sleep hormone).
