Heating Pads
Ok, who here thinks it's a good idea to use a heating pad to warm your res a couple degrees?

why do you want to warm it? Well your target temp should be 60-70 F

My res temp regularly stays as low as 64, and sometimes goes lower than that. I'm concerned that it's too low and is stunting the growth of my buds. I just want to bring it up 2-4 degrees without having to put out $30 to do it.

I have it sitting on a folded up blanket to keep it from making direct contact with the floor because when it did the temp dropped to the high 50s. Sadly, I can't keep the room above 68 - 70. I'm sure that's part of the problem. Think a comforter would do the trick?

Not sure what container you have but buy some actual insulation for houses and suck with a high rating. You could wrap them in a loose garbage bag and pump it full of spray insulation or instead of a bag use a larger container and fill in the gaps with insulation. A blanket is better than nothing. Thats a good temp for the room to be....are you using HID lights? they can warm it up and boost your harvest big time....its well worth it.

My res is just an 8 gallon Rubbermaid type thing with holes cut in the lid to fit the net pots.
No HID, though I'd love to have a nice 250W'er HPS. I just can't afford it right now. I'm using CFLs at the moment. I have 126w total and 84 of those watts are 2700K while 42w are 6400K. I'm considering replacing my three 42w bulbs with 3 100 - 124w ones. If I can find some that I can afford. Replace at least one of them anyway.
I'm also gathering what I need to build an E&B system.

my res stays at 70-72, the lady at the hydro store told me thats ideal, however ramo from urbangrower.com suggest 52f is ideal for mj, now ive never tried this and dont know how true it is, but i do know advanced nutrients spend close to 1 million a year in research and development on growing marijuana, so it may be true

Wow...52F? Unreal. Maybe I ought to set the res back onto the bare floor.

52F is supposed to be the temperature at which water can reach peak oxygenation, but i definatley would advise against any heating of your res
