i know that it seems a good idea to throw 30,000+/- lumens on them but, it is the wrong spec, so the plant won't use as much light... my personal experience with merc vapour was way too much heat, way too little light; those under floro's only were double the size as the ones under mv...

for twenty bucks you can get another 48" fixture and two 40w GE day light bulbs. that'll be all you need until flower
