They think the public is so fuckin' stupid and thin-skinned that they can't figure out for themselves when someone is shooting straight or bullshitting them. A strong Leader isn't going to worry about hurting a few feelings if he's shooting straight and playing fair. People can sense this even when they're in their 'herd mentality' mode.

But politicians are all scrounging around for poll points like rats for acorns. The state of Government has gotten so contemptable it's nauseating.
