I set up this small cabinet in a cardboard box on end. Started the seeds after they popped under 2 CFLs for one week. The 2nd week I put in a new light
(2' 4 bulb T5 and 150w HPS combo). For ventalation I have one active intake with a PC fan stack and one pc fan exit. After getting the new light I had to put in a 80cfl vent booster to keep the temp at a proper level.
The only other change I am going to make is get a sheet of glass to seperate the light from the grow chamber and have seperate vents to cool the light. I started them in basic potting soil then trans planted them into bigger pots with foxfarms ocean forest soil.

Started the nutes a bit to early (week 2) and had some yellow tips and edges, but all I did was flush for a week and they were fine. At week 3, I added some half strength dyna grow for nutes and the girls took that just fine.

I think this week though I will start them on foxfarms products. I will give them 2 more weeks veg with ff growbig and then tiger bloom and big bud when I start 12/12. I also had thought of using a carbo blast at the begining of flower. If I start 12/12 in 16 days that will give them 27 days veg under the new light, total 34 days veg from when they started in soil.

I was also thinking of topping the 5th node a few days before starting them to flower and then starting LST. As these are from seeds, I can't really do SCROG, I want to take out the males a week or 2 after 12/12 when they start to show. I am going to get some clones off the girls to start the next batch.

So tell me am I friggin nuts?? It all seems to be working rather well and this is my first grow.

Hi, I think you're grow is coming along nicely. Two questions: what is a vent booster? and why can't you scrog with plants grown from seed?

2 reasons, they are not genetically the same, so growth rate may vary considerably, and because they're not clones you will get males. But you can Scrog from seed, its just not ideal.

Well, a vent booster is a fan designed to go in line to an ac or heat duct. So you could hook up a 4" vent hose on one side and an exit vent hose on the other and it moves the air. Works great to cool the cabinet.

The reason you can't really SCROG with seeds is, by the time you can sex the plants you should already have them in the screen. The girls should grow into the screen during veg to get as many bud sites as possible and fill the screen. When the plants start to show sex you would have to take the males out and that would be difficult, cause the plants are all intertwined with each other. It is best to use SCROG with clones off of a female, cause then you know, all of them are stinky girls and then you have no worries. SO I will be using one of these female plants for clones.

I have 2 strians in this cabinet a NLx and good Ole fashioned Skunk!! I am really hoping for skunk girls :dance:

Effectively you could take a cutting from each plant you intend to flower to find out which are female and which are male, and then eliminate accordingly. And then flower the females, so you thoretically can Scrog from seed. Also, Scroging is more efficient when the stretch brought about by 12/12 grows into the screen and not alot beforehand.
