    Ideal temperature not achieved!

Woah lots of good information Racerx! For a person about to power an 1,000w HPS You just gave me some great tips (And probably saved me alot of money!)
Buddahbear Reviewed by Buddahbear on . Ideal temperature not achieved! I know the ideal temperature in the growroom is 24-25 Celsius. Iā??ve just plugged my lamp and the room climbed to 31 Celsius. What to do ? Would getting more fan in the room cool things off or do I absolutely need another intake ? Rating: 5

For an 1,000w pulling cold air from outside would a 4-6" inline work (as an intake)
    and

    as an out vent/temp control?

FUCK ME! 2 intakes didnā??t fix my problem and actually made things worse as it created a negative air flow.

I have no choice ā?¦ I will change my intake so that it sucks air from outside instead of inside the house. Iā??m also getting one of these power bar / thermometer so that if it gets too cold in the grow room, it will simply stop and start back when the temp is high again.

    Thanks again for the help.

Got me thinking as well, why the fuck don't they make fans that have a thermostat, effectively extraction fans with A/C capabilitys.

Anyway, when it comes to cool tubes, its something that needs to be thought about, because the sacrifice you make to remove all the heat off the bulb is losing lumens. In my opinion, an open bulb is much much more efficient than keeping the bulb behind layers of glass.

Someone mentioned that blowing on the bulb with a fan wouldn't be effective, with an extraction setup at the top of the room it would. Just blowing the hot air around the room, obviously not. Alot of people cool open bulbs with a simple fan ---> extraction setup.

If you plug that extraction set up to a vent tube (like a wider vacuum cleaner tubing, f.ex.) that leads right to the lamp, where the air is hottest, that should help.
From what I understand, exhausts/outlets need to be bigger than inlets

So here are the results :

With the intake coming from outside, I was able to maintain the temperature to 27 Celsius. I will go with this for now as itā??s getting colder everyday so I should be able to maintain my temp at 24 ā?? 25 within 2 to 3 weeks!

    Thanks again

I'm using Hotilux super HPS (1000W). I'm getting another intake today so all should be well.

    The goal is 24 - 25 celcious right ?
Our room gets to like 82 degrees fahrenheit (27 degrees C) at plant level with our 1000watt in a cool tube with the only ventilation being a shitty plastic wal-mart fan rigged to pull air out of the room through the cool tube and 2 oscilating fans in the room. Very ghetto exhaust, but keeps the tube cool enough to touch without burning your hand, even though not cool by any means. Imagine how cool it would be with a real exhaust fan? You should try one and I bet it would lower your temp below 27 :rasta:

Oh, and check out my grow, I don't think the few lumens lost in the glass hurts much, the girls have grown so much since we turned it on I can't imagine what my room would be like without the HPS behind glass, something like hell but brighter lol.
