The high that I want, and when to harvest

OK so I haven't smoked in years, and I'm trying to figure out when to harvest. My harvest window seems to have just opened, and I believe that I'm seeking a certain type of high. But let me briefly describe a few different highs that I've experinced, relative to the high that I'm looking for. I've experienced the major couchlock, having smoked weed that was allowed to go completely reddish, past the amber stage. That was interesting, but left me almost immobile. Then there's a time when the weed got me really paranoid but also really sleepy, and when I slept I felt like I was floating, like that couch guy in that stoner movie with Dave Chappelle. But then there was an uplifting high that wasn't sleepy or couch-lock, that allowed me to gaze happily transfixed at the stars for awhile. This last stone is what I'd like, so when should I harvest to get that, based on trichomes?

I dont think its really that easy. Different strains have different effects, and the way that it is dried and cured could have different effects on it. You cant really just choose the high based on how long it has been growing.

Not that I know of anyway.

get a microscope from radioshack, and take a peek at the trichomes (crystals) when the trichomes turn cloudy, the plant is ripe, thc is at it's max. that is what you are looking for. to acheive the couch lock, let plant go until at least half of the crystals go from cloudy white to amber/red/purple.

thc gives you the "head" high.

degraded thc gives you the "couch lock"

it is very true that most of the "feel" of the high is strain dependent, so.....
