Marijuana and sleep
Hell yeah, me and the woman hit the bowl about an hour before we go to sleep, watch a couple of cartoons, then drop off. She has serious insomnia problems too. The doctors prescribed some pills for her, and they work, sort of. But they knock her out completely, and she wakes up from those pills and she's still in a haze, doesn't function that well. And they're addictive too. But pot...one bowl and boom, she's out and sleeps fine, wakes up refreshed. Helps her mood too, since she's not tired all the time or hazed out on the pills, and helping her mood helps MY mood.

OK, the scientists have to put in their little disclaimers so they can continue to get their funding. It's part of the "dance" they have to do to survive in the scientific world. The government still has a hand on the science world. As for pot and grades, well this study kind of puts the lie to their claims http://www.cmaj.ca/cgi/content/abstract/166/7/887 (ever think of saving these little gems that I post? I have a note book of over 200 of them now- makes a great "show and tell" among friends) I also graduated with honors and was the oldest member at the college's "stoner's table" in the cafeteria. (I was an "honored member" of the table after I showed them that a little old lady like me can still handle a 4 foot bong at a Friday night party ) I was stoned most of the time while in college and still am! I work in education ( be nice to that always smiling teacher's aide- it might be me! LOL) and am a California legal MMJ User.

Marijuana and sleep
I'm caring for a terminally ill person who had cancer and surgery. Before his surgery the pain was so bad that Rx drugs in huge quantities weren't touching his pain. He'd smoke and 10 mins later be happy and pain free and sleep like a baby.

There is a downside to using MJ as a sleep aid. If used habitually, it suppresses your REM cycle (there have been other posts on this, do a search). Experiment yourself and you might find that once you recover from the insomnia after daily (nightly) smoking, your dreams will come vividly rushing back. MJ induced sleep is actually a much LESS restful sleep if used habitually. It's a major reason that I limit my own use.

I toked up last night with some grav rips before bed, I wish I also had enough green to smoke right before sleep. I to have crazy dreams, but the best part is that I put my music on my 5.1 before I go to bed I just make a random playlist and go to sleep in love with my surroundings. I actually have prescription pills for my insomnia as well, Trazadone and I wake up in the morning feelings like a zombie it really sucks.

I sometimes wonder if it means I'm missing something important or just the waking memory is gone? Don't know enough about the science/biology going on there.
Been 12 years and I can count my (remembered)dreams - they are that rare - but I've alays had very little recall.
