i kinda feel bad for not telling them that i smoke, but im too nervous they will get mad at me. should i tell them or not. because they will find out one day probably! i dont know wut to do!!!

look, only you know your parents. ive heard of parents straight up calling the cops on their kids, another dude was like "i told my parents and theyre cool with it and letting me grow!!"

point being, if your mother like mine, will cry and think shes failed raising a potsmoking son then dont tell them, something better kept to yourself.

however if you think your parents would be rational and understand, or maybe smoke themselves, fuck it tell them.

one things for sure, if theyre gona tell you to stop dont tell them. lying to your parents is worse than doing something they dont know about. in my opinion.

some things are just better left in the darkness, hidden deep away from certain people, this is one of those subjects that should pretty much always be left in the shroud we'll call 'saftey'....

btw, alot of people feel guilty about marijuana usage, that doesn't mean you should tell people... just the opposite usually... but as said 2x before me, only you know your parents and only you could really judge whether you should tell them or not... most likely tho, depending on your age, they will find out, or atleast get suspicous at one point or another, this by no means should be taken as a time to come clean, alot of times you're setting yourself up for failure...

in the end, as always it's your decision, my input is no, dont' tell them, you should really never incriminate yourself for anything. i told my grandma, who is the one that raised me, only problem she had with it, is it was illegal, but alot of parents aren't as open minded about things as she was with me growing up.

Chances are mate, if you're worried about telling them - then you shouldn't. With my parents it's still the drugs = death thing - no way. I've been taking different things for nearly 20 years now and I still wouldn't do it. I have a wife, good job, blah, blah, blah - it won't make no difference.

When I lived at home, it was like my mom knew but was in denial in one way but yet would buy me pot t shirts. My step dad busted me smoking in my room one day and all he did was say in a firm voice "I told you Not in the house" he then took my pipe and new bag of weed and I didn't hear anything about it till one day my mom brought it up and told our nanny in front of me hehehe My mom knew she couldn't tell me not to smoke cause I'd just say "Well you did" and well that would be end of conversation hehehe Also when I countered her reasons to not do it, the only one she could come up with to be valid was that it was illegal and I could get busted.

I'd tell em that you want to be stright up with them and not have to lie to them and tell em you like to smoke it. you get points for being honest but they may not like u doing it but wont come down on ya too hard. Just don't have any or pipes around at the time.

Try to bring it up tactfully I say. My parents had no problem with me doing it when I actually lived at home (I'm 25 ftr) as long as it wasn't in the house or around them (they didn't like the smell). But, if I wans't sure if my parents had a problem with it, just watch some montell williams when your parents are around, wait til he starts advocating the Sacred Plant for his MS, and try to innocently make discussion about it. See what their feelings are about it (they'll probably ask if you've tried it, I was straight with my parents when they asked, you may say something else if you feel you need to) and then act accordingly.

True, Newbie, that's what I'm in the process of doing now with my 'rents. I think my dad knows, and my mom is a smart woman in the health field, so I play to that.

The whole "Yeah, I heard on the news..." thing about stuff you already know about pot works well, but only one "news item" every few weeks, otherwise, they'll be suspicious.

I've been working on it for 2 years, and I've got her mostly desensitized. Or I'll point out a famous genius who smokes, or make up a fictional friend's parent with a PhD or successful career who I "never thought they would smoke pot" and how intelligent they are in spite of it "How amazing!"

My mother smokes weed, and when she found out I started smoking it, she thought it was her fault.

Now she thinks she has ruined my life and doesn't want me smoking it, yet she smokes it..

We just don't talk about it.
