Seriously - Discussion On Spraying CO2, Any Point?
.
Seems to me the amounts of CO2 transported to the plants from spraying seltzer water would probably be quite small and sporadic.
And do the leaves absorb CO2 in that manner? Another problem is that preferably when applying CO2 you want maximum lights going and even quite high heat, risking burns.
Is it worth the effort?'

No. IMO, it is NOT worth the effort/risk.
If you want to add CO2, do it through the air. Do it the right way. Sealed up room, decently high temps, no exhaust. I think spraying it does just what you said, adds very little CO2 (probably some, but not much) and does risk burning your plants (trust me on that one...)

For the most part I do agree. Also, I think that CO2 came up on another thread that you were on and the question was "When to use CO2" and if I remember right you said that CO2 is used by the plant all threw the grow and I had stated that CO2 is best used in flower. You are right, the plant can always use CO2 in veg and flower, but for the most part, with CO2 methods being expensive and so on, I feel that in most peoples opinions, CO2 is used in flower more because the level of photo synthesis taking place is directly related to bud development and the CO2 can proportionately have a greater affect at this point, and also, when the plants are in veg and smaller the amount of Photo synthesis is proportionally less and the CO2 is questionably having even half of the affect that it does when in flower.
But you will find growers that don't even want to run CO2 in flower for fear of losing potency, but this is a small amount of growers IMO.
Sorry to high jack the thread, but I guess it is still on the topic of CO2 and I hope that it helps either way.

Absolutely, Bluebear. That sounds about right on. Do have to say that I didn't know anything about using CO2 and losing potency, though.

It is debatable Fog, but even those who say that, still admit that the yields are greater with it and it is a small trade off, but like I said, this is a small amount of growers that even subscribe to the theory of not using durring flower.

i think C02 can help, but like said its tricky and probably expensive to get right...
for the average grower, i think money and effort is probably better spent on other aspects, like nute ratios, soil mix etc.
with good ventilation, theres 'enough' c02 in the air, adding c02 is benificial up to a point, but IMO not worth the efort unless the other more controlable variables are tweaked to max potential

I do agree, you do want to have your grow dialed in with every thing else before the CO2, IMO. You know growing has different levels and it is a learning experience and you learn by going threw all of the steps rather than by skipping them.
Kind of like a new carpenter or mechanic, why go out and by $5000 in tools if you only no how to change the oil and air filter, or change a door knob and put up some trim.

In my opinion a little co2 does the world of good through both grow and flower stages. The cheapest way i found to produce a small amount of co2 in the air was to stick my home brew kit in the grow room.....sorted.BTW anyone tried making beer from the clippings ??

Now a DIY CO2 source is a good way to start off because it is just allot cheaper and will give you a chance to see if it is what you want without spending 800 bucks on a CO2 controller and another $200 to $300 on a tank, not to mention the other costly modifications that sometimes need to be made to really get the altimet benefit from the CO2.
