He's not Kinky, He's my Governor

I saw some talk about Kinky Friedman running for governor in some earlier threads. But, thought I would see if anyone was planning to vote for him or already had early voted. Or any other comments you had about the Governor's election in Texas.

and here's a link, if your interested

Willy Nelson's buddy? You bet I'll vote for him. Only because it's gotten so bad that it's going to take something extreme to affect change. Not because he's particularly qualified for the job. Unfortunately, looking at the other choices you have to use Kinky's own slogan "Why the Hell not?"

I agree with you Hamlet. I also think that having no political experience is more of a good thing than a bad thing. He doesn't owe anyone any favors or anything so he will be able to do whats best for everyone. One of those things will likely be decriminalization for possession of mj! I just hope he can win.

I didn't vote for Kinky (I've already done early voting). After watching all his interviews, I couldn't in good conscience throw my support his way. Yeah, he may be new blood. And he may be humorous and sorta edgy and funny. But I don't perceive him as being highly smart, perceptive or compassionate. Just sort of a concocted character, which is what he freely admits to being.

    I voted for Chris Bell.

I saw that TV spot he did for the "Good Shepherd" I though all you compassionate liberals (and the Holy Rollers) would eat that stuff up.

I didn't see that ad. Wish I had. But it still wouldn't have sold me. Where's Kinky been all these years when it comes to public service, philanthropy, volunteering, or community support? Nowhere that I've seen. But I have seen some obnoxious tendencies that concern me.

I work hard to be compassionate, and although I'm really more moderate, lots would hasten to brand me a liberal. I can see advertising and marketing baloney when I spot it, and that's what that ad sounds like--the brainchild of a savvy media adviser.

You know me, Ozark. I don't swallow everything that comes my way!

    I can't believe you haven't seen that: "I'm a good shepherd not a politician"
he's got the stray dog and everything.

A Jew quoting St. John in Texas politics, and you missed it. You need to watch more TV

Vote for Kinky = Vote for Legalization

A vote for Kinky is really only a vote for someone who supports legalization. A real vote for legalization would be to cast a vote for a legislator who'll sponsor and promote a legalization bill.
