how many lumens per watt are emitted by a compact fluorescent? i have a 40watt fluorescent and i want to know if it would be good enough for beginning veg state until i can get better/more light.

As far as flourecents, sheez it seems like centuries 1976 since I used those.... they have the standard, the HO (high output, more lumens, you need the HO ballasts and bulbs) and VHO (very high output, it graduates in lumens and cost as you go up) spend the extra money and get the VHO's if thats that way you are going to go, although halides of phophofurus or whatever I am toasted and getting old and forget things is the way to go,,,,, damn there goes my spelling.

I have never, ever ever ever seen that kind of growth with nothing but 2 72w fluros. Absolutely amazing. Must have been a chronic nug those seeds came from.

lumens for a 40 watt is usually around 3800 - 4300...

clouded mind i could tell you that 40 watts flouro would be enough for veg as im usin 2x14 watt cools to veg a white widow as the hid is gettin used for flowerin and thw WW is doing superb under that 28 watts of flouro,go for it man-you can only try
