Clones Misting Question

So I've been cloning plants for years and get almost 100% success rate. Recently I am no longer able to clone in my house. Wife wouldn't like it. So I've had another person helping me out. The job is being done pretty well with only about 1 or 2 failures in a 24 plant batch. For years I've been wondering how to set up some kind of mist system on a timer so I don't have to be there every twelve hours. That how often I mist them for the first week. I don't want to over mist them. You know when you're at the grocery store in the produce section and the misters come on for about 5 seconds. That what I want. I haven't figured out how to do it yet but am interested by another thread about the foggers/bubblers and airoponics. If I use airoponics do I even need to mist my plants? Do I need to keep the dome on when using airoponics? If the answer is yes to either, would the fogger on for 1 minute do the job I'm looking for? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Really all you need is a little reservoir, a small water pump, some pvc piping, and some sprinkler supples. You can essentially copy an aerocloner but put it upside down, above the clones. Obviously it would need very little water for very little time, but a simple digital timer lets you set multiple spray points if you want.

that being said, how come you mist so often? I mist about once every 3 days. Stays humid and moist inside. I let them breath for a few minutes once or twice a day. Also, for that much work, why not just build an aerocloner and forget the misting?

I have came across these little fans that have a misting meccanism that shoot outs a mist every so often. Am not sure if this could help, but I am thinking about looking online for one because the humidity up here in the far north is dryer than a desert.

I mist that often because that is how I was taught and it has always worked well for me. I've found that when I don't stick to that schedule I just don't have the same success rate. As far as the aerocloner goes, I've just recently learned about it. I haven't found specifics on whether or not you have to mist. Apparently you don't by your respones. That would be great. I still need to know if I need a dome over them. I can't imagine startin without a dome. Do you need one?

i do not use a dome; i cut, coat with rootone, place in soil, and place about 3 feet away from my veg flo tubes. however, i have to mist several times a day, for several days, until they adjust to what happened to them. i have a few clones that haven't been misted for a week and they look gorgeous!

Misting should be done as aften as needed to keep the area humid...If you use a dome, then you don't need to mist as often, but some of us now use no-wilt and no dome...I spray 1-2 times per day.

In answer to your query. you can build or buy an aero cloner, and if you use aero, you will no longer need to mist the cuttings...Yes, you are right. I have 3-4 threads on different types of cloning.

cloning directly to hydroton bubbler. If you make a bubbler. you don't have to turn on/off anything. you just top off every 3-4 days so you maintain good water level.

24 site aerocloner...can't remember name of thread, but search through hydroponics, there are several good cloning threads that'll give you ideas about your options. peace

The best thing that works for me is water ionizer with a little air pressure:

water ionizer(fogger, mister, whatever)
rubbermaid resevoir(i think it's a 2.5 gallon)

all you have to do, is drill 3 holes in the lid. One for the ionizer's power, one for a 1/4th inch air supply hose, and one for a 1/2 inch tube connected to a propogation tent.
I have my fogger run 15 minutes, every hour and a half. This keeps the environment very humid. I keep the air pressure on the whole time, so they have a "little" breeze running through while they're not being fogged. I have my 1/2 inch tube connected to a 2 way splitter, one hose going into one tent, and another for my other tent. I also keep a heat mat under both tents.

KickYoAss, So I appreciate your input. Your pictures show the rubbermaid tub above the propogation domes. I see the power cord, a clear tube and the 1/2 inch tube coming out of the tub. So you have the clear tube hooked up to a aquarium air pump? The blue tube is used to move the fog from the rubbermaid to the domes? I thinks I likes.

yes sir. the fogger was $25-ish with shipping, but I bet if you looked around you could get one for $20, shipped.
