there could be loads of reasons to why u think that nota.....
for one..when ya been here for a while (as in yrs) an get to no the other regular guy/girls that come into chat etc about their lives/family/relationships etc ...an before ya no it u sumtimes think, shit i no a lot of stuff about basically just names on the screen,,,iv known a few peeps on here for over 4 yrs..an theres also peeps that have been comin here longer

secondly....maybe u class this as a soap opera as we r all human an do strange things as in tv land....an even sumtimes u believe in all wat u been told..which sumtimes turns out to be totally false ...

thank you hunny for your view, i now realize that i am too gullable and trusting of what people tell me, and what i read, as the truth.
i guess i should be more skeptical.
but i got to say, chat here is very entertaining, and most on here are still of the highest quality of people i have ever had the pleasure of meeting online.

i too believe an believed in all wat i was told on this site (includin the chatroom) i have been hurt really bad ,,,so yea i suggest u r more sceptical with wat ur told etc,,as i will have to be ........but sayin that i do have a few good m8s that come into chat an they kno who they r (not namin names) that i class as good m8s an have spoke about personal stuff to each other etc...so yea there is a number of good peeps on here,,

I do...

I can be who I really am, feeling no need to aspire to a predefined expectancy of those around me. I can be as silly, or as serious as I want or need to be.
In life, that is not always possible.

I also like learning about peoples' psyche - what makes them tick - but that's because I've always been a kind of 'people watcher' (the amount of times that some folk have thought that I was a cop, just because I like studying people.

It is also a place where you can vent your frustrations, or gain an opinion about something, even help others to overcome certain situations that affect their lives - and in turn, maybe learn how to approach a problem in your own life, through application of knowledge.

I used to be a moderator on the S1 board (one of the biggest on-line communities inthe world), and found that I have gained a much better view of the world and it's people.
I like coming here for entertainment, learning, and the hope that I can help someone through their problems, as they can often help me...even if it is just to listen

It is a good diversion from the harshness of reality (it will rarely solve anything, but it helps to have like-minded persons to yak with), and without it (especially right now) I dunno what I'd do.

Maybe, but is better than sitting in a room by myself, dwelling on stuff that I have little or no control over, and losing my mind completely.


I think that 'soap-opera' is a bit tacky a label, though ....

And all the while the stoner soap opera community tokes and tokes, on and on and nobody gets mad because everybody's feeling high and fine. And at the end of the day they all sit down and eat and eat and wake up the next day and can't remember what happened the day before. Is that Euphoric in my bed?!! (Hahaha, wishful thinking. )

Aaaaaaaanyway... notanovice, here is why I think you see these boards as a "Soap opera"

When we're out with our friends, in public or not, alo of us have to hide our true selves.. We conform (consciously or not) to rules of ettiquette etc, we try to impress certain people, we try and seem funny or cool or whatever.. So when we're out we rarely act how we really are.. I mean, some people do, but most people act differently when they're around people they don't know at all or too well.. In other words, we put up a facade..

When I was younger and was at the point in my life (the time alot of guys go through as theyre growing up) where I was always trying to seem cool, to fit in, and at the same time trying to show off and be the funny one, I could rarely be myself..

But maturing (and smoking weed, to be honest) has changed that.. I'm of the mentality now where I think "if they dont like me/it, then its their loss, fuck 'em".. i'm more outspoken.. i care less about what people think

But, i dont always think like that.. in public or with other people i still occasionally have to stop myself saying or doing something that other people will frown upon... But, posting here i've met alot of like-minded, interesting people, so I can be as stupid as i want to be, as silly as i want, but i can also be as serious as i want.. i can go from posting about geese in one thread to posting about theology or physics in another thread..

also, pot-smokers tend to be 'from the same mould'.. i dont mean we all look/think/dress/talk the same, but we share a common ground.. similarly, alot of people act how they want to act here, and dont bite their tongue in case someone disapproves

now, you get a group of 10000 stoners from all walks of life, who are just being themselves and sayin what the fuck they want, in one 'place' and theres bound to be conflicts.. its as simple as that

Yeppers, it's what I've found too.
But at least, any 'conflicts' of opinion have to be responed to in a 'literary form'...ie, the bloke down the pub might smack you in the mouth for taking an opposite view, whereas here, one has to qualify their arguement in written word (requires more thought and consideration (communique)) - and sometimes, those opinions can be changed in a more informative and constructive way - rather than conform or be outcast.

I live alone.
I have but one 'physical friend', but as far as that goes, I cannot interact with most others (outside of this foruim ), because they are too wrapped up in their own belief systems to open their eyes to the reality of things.
I live alone, because I don't want to conform any more than is absolutely necessary (ie, go to work, be a father) - and I'm seen as being wierd, or summat.

So I'm wierd - who cares? - only those who are so blinkered and brainwashed, that they cannot see the truth if it were a great big sign that said "YOU ARE SHEEP!!! FACE THE TRUTH!!!"
