New RO filter question

I just hooked up my new RO system. The water tastes great, way better than the old tap water. I tested the pH of the RO water and it is at around 8.0 (jumps around a lot for some reason). I expected that the water would have a ph of 7.0 (neutral). What should the pH of RO water be?

I know I should be checking the TDS of the water, but my TDS meter is in the mail. Would this water be safe to feed to my plants if I was to bring the pH down to 5.5-6.5?

You will need to adjust RO water but you will find that because there is almost nothing in it you will need to use MUCH less ph adjuster than usually used with tap water. RO water has no buffers to stabilize ph but I find that once I set the ph it stays more stable than my old well water. That's the beauty of RO water--whatever is in it--you put it there.!! Are you growing in soil or hydro?

Understand this about RO filtered water. it is as close to pure as you can basically get.Hound is right.RO water is the very best to use once you learn how to use it.Most people have never even tasted "pure" water before.Likewise, most plants haven't either.Your plants will love it.

Refilled the reservoir with a new batch of nutrients using the RO water. The plants are loving it already. 600W HPS + 600W MH drip system on rockwool for now. Right now I'm just growing out some Ak47 and Skunk #1 until I can take some clones, then I will flower those clones under 1200W HPS + 600W MH in an ebb & flow. I am going to need a lot of good water, and now that is not a problem.

Definitely don't forget your Calmag with RO water!!

Weedhound what does calmag do for RO water?I will be starting a hydro grow in about 2 weeks.Any help would be greatly appreciate!
