    1500th post .... my latest rant ...

"mod" is from the 1960s and 1970s Great Britain ... the 'mods' were the Carnaby Street fashion-heads, and the "rockers" were the rougher, motorcycle riding types ... I guess thats what they mean ... I'm more of a 'rocker' than a 'mod' ...

    ~Image Reaper~

    Hello.

I whole-heartedly agree with your 'rant.' I have tried to avoid preaching to these 'kids' about the importance of portraying yourself in a positive light to gain respect and take the stigma off of Cannabis use, but I broke down and wrote my own little rant/tangent in one thread about "The use of Abbreviations" (they misspelled the title of the thread, lol). It started as a simple spelling/grammar rant, but led to the same basic plea that you are making. My post was ignored.

Anyway, I think that it would be a HUGE step towards wider acceptance of the use of the herb if we could convey to "THEM" that we are mature, intelligent, and productive members of society with morals (more morals than most politicians, etc) with families, careers, and tangible property. We also provide widely-used services and products to the public along with reintroducing our earnings into the economy.

With the education system failing our youth of today (future leaders of tomorrow), we need to be more proactive with educating them on the importance of setting a positive image. It seems to be popular and "cool" to not-give-a-damn what people think about you. This is a horrible byproduct of more and more activism for individuality. What people tend to misunderstand is that it IS important how you are portrayed in professional and social settings and you can maintain a positive reputation while still keeping your own individual opinions/beliefs. There are ways to express those beliefs and opinions without looking like a degenerate, unintelligent thug.

In any case, I've been typing this on and off for about 3 or 4 hours while working so I'm gonna just post it and go eat.

    Good post. 2

P.S. Seems like you abandoned that whole roadcam thing.

thanks for the response ... (I dumped my other monicker, as it resembled one of my e-mail addresses, and started a SPAM explosion) ... ... as to our public perceptions, I like the main proponents behind the MPP, Marijuana Policy Project ... these activists look like "Young Republicans", and are busy lobbying Washington D.C. ... haircuts, suits and ties, and hopefully, bagfulls of bribe money ... those are the guys that will get the changes made, not unwashed dreadlocks in the streets ... no offense meant, I was a longhaired hippie when the Earth was young ... :rasta: ... but, the Harvard-educated-looking 'suits' carry much more weight, and will improve the public perception of the American marijuana user, I hope ... currently watching Nevada in this election, a lot could turn on that vote ...
