Hair tests can detect the presence of drugs throughout the length of the hair. However, it becomes inaccurate after about the first 1 and 1/2 inches of hair from the scalp. This is about 3 months of growth. Because of this, the normally accepted standard in the U.S. is to only use the first 1 and 1/2 inches of growth and thus the last 3 months of possible drug use.

I looked through the discussion boards and I have only found a few threads of people actually answering back if they passed or not after taking the hair test. Before I completely quit 4 months ago, I was a relatively light smoker (maybe once or twice a month).
